Wrestling Tournament, Grilling - Saturday
Yesterday morning worked out rather nicely. The tournament was at our gym and was all of 5 minutes drive away. I took the boys up first thing to get weighed in before they had eaten or drank anything. Both ended up lighter than last week.
We went straight back home and fed the boys a good breakfast to prepare them for the morning.
We got back to the gym and the boys went out on the mat to warmup. This tournament there was probably 1/4 of the kids as last weekend so we were able to use just the one gym and 8 mat spots.
Most of what I got from their matches was all video but I have a number of shots from the morning. This was the staging area on the bleachers.
R's first match was against a kid 10 pounds lighter than him and the poor kid broke down mid match. R did well with his sportsmanship and the kid ended up continuing the match. R won handily but the good thing I thought was later in the day I saw the small kid still wrestling.
J was next for his match and he ended up wrestling his friend and classmate. Max is stronger than J and won the match which was difficult or both families to root for them. It was more of "go boys' than individuals.
R's second match was against a young girl from Republic and despite their weights being close this time R won the match.
He ended up being a good bit stronger than her but they both did really well.
J got a bye for his second match and then went to the consolation round where he won his match and was 2-1. He then went to the final round where he wrestled for third place again.
R ended up in the championship round and he wrestled a kid that was a good bit stronger than him and ended up pinning him, but he still got second place.
Proud boys.
J ended up in his last match and by this time he was getting to be on overload mentally but he did his best against a kid that was stronger than him and probably a second year wrestler.
He lost on points and got fourth place for the second week. He was pretty emotional afterwards but they both did really well and we are proud of them both for how hard they tried and how well they did.
Back home we headed right outside to soak and to get the boys to dunk and degrime in the chlorine.
They wanted to hangout inside but we had them go out and play while the sun was out and it was still nice.
Mid afternoon I got the fire going in the pit again for grilling for the evening.
The washers pit is clear finally and there were some good throws as we got back into the swing of it. It took me 10 throws and I got a cup. I had to laugh at R and his seat he made of the bricks.
The bison rib cuts got put on the grill and it didn't take very long for them to be nicely done. I love the longer light in the days now.
After dinner the boys ended up in bed and we went out to soak again.
It's @stryeyz birthday today and it's going to be raining much of the day. The time change is annoying and I realized it once I woke up this morning, I have leftover beefallo to grill sometime today, then likely more bison for dinner. Mostly it will be a lazier day after the excitement of yesterday.

Wait ✋️... he wrestled a girl? Where was that shit when I was kid?
There's a bunch of girls wrestling. We have 2 in the 7-8 year olds and the 9+ has at least 6 that I have seen. The other schools have a good number as well. Never happened when I was in school either.
