The NFL is horribly over officiated. If not for fantasy football I don't think I could watch it. Flags for everything? Two hand touch on QBs?

So, I was entirely rooting for the Cardinals to beat the Cowboys; still, the Cowboys got fucked royally by the refs.

The Cowboys shouldn't have had to blow a timeout when the Cardinals were on fourth and short and had both the quarterback and the kicker on the field with the play clock ticking down.

The rules require that an offensive change of personnel give time for a defensive change of personnel because the defense has to adjust to the circumstance that the offense gets to dictate.

In this case, the personnel on the field for the Cardinals was simultaneously showing that they were going for it on fourth and that they were kicking the field goal while the play clock was draining and not allowing the Cowboys to make a decision about keeping their defense on the field or sending out the special teams unit.

If games were to continue like this in practice an offense could go into a goal line formation with four recievers ready to go on the sideline, run it up the middle with a fullback, wait until the play clock is under ten seconds, switch to a shotgun formation and force the defense to either eat what the offense is giving, take a five yard penalty, or waste a timeout.

That lost timeout might well have cost the Cowboys the game.

Again, I'm always happy when the Cowboys lose; but, that officiating was bullshit.
