Skateboard Carioca Portraits Project
Hello SkateHivers! How are you? Hope everyone is well...
As some of you may already know, I'm a skateboard photographer here in Brazil, and in addition to skateboarding photography, I have an authorial portrait project called "Skateboard Carioca".
This project was born, when I bought a 55mm lens for my old camera and knowing that it was excellent for portraits, I started photographing my friends on skateboard sessions.
I went out photographing all my session friends... When I came across, I already had about thirty portraits in my computer folder.
From this discovery, I saw that these images could become a project. I continued photographing everyone. The project currently has over 500 portraits and I don't intend to stop there.
The project has skaters of all ages, races and genders. There are also people who are not skateboarders, but who collaborate or have already collaborated a lot with the skateboard scene in Rio de Janeiro. The only requirement is that the photos be taken with the 55mm lens, with ambient light and after the skate session, when they already look tired. LOL
My effort now is to be able to hold an exhibition, in a nice place, with all the portraits so that people can see each other and even remember some of our friends who have passed away.
A few months ago, I was invited by my friends at Tails of Skateboarding, which is a US print magazine, to publish some of the portraits and talk a little about the project.
It was really cool to see the reaction of my friends who had their portrait published in this magazine. An unparalleled feeling!

Fernando, what if you made an exhibition on Metaverse with all these photos? I think lots of people are gonna love this!
Man, I hadn't thought about that… But it's a great idea! I will study more about this possibility. these things are still too new for me!
