Folks,
Carrying on from yesterday's effort
Just what is a Whisker Biscuit?
Well it's one of these, of course:
A type of arrow-rest used in archery
I just discovered it yesterday — hence my fascinated fixation with the name
It mounts to a bow and holds the arrow in position as you draw the string
On release, the synthetic feathers at the end, called fletchings, pass straight through those biscuity whiskers, which impart minimal frictional losses upon the flying arrow as it goes
Quite a brilliant design really!
...
As you can probably guess, I got involved in a bit of archery yesterday
I work with a guy who's a member of the local archery club
The club's range is open to visitors on Sundays
So before I went in for the on-call/weekend shift, I met him there
It was a lot of fun
Something different
...
I'm going to stop writing about it now and just show you some pictures
A real fluke occurred as well, but I'll talk about that tomorrow
