I really want to go home now. I hope it happens. I have a contract and now the clubs have to negotiate. They already know my position.

So clear is the message from 41-year-old Xavi, who is more than in play to take over the vacant coaching seat at the heart club FC Barcelona. The agreement between the coach and Barça should already be in place, according to Mundo Deportivo, and on Wednesday Xavi said goodbye to the players of his current club Al Sadd after it turned into a 2-2 result in the Qatar Super League. But as the former midfielder and general of "Los Cules" still has a contract with Qatar's big club, Barcelona have to negotiate an agreement in place with Al Sadd.

That negotiation has gone into a bit of a hair knot in the last few days, as Al Sadd owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani has no intention of letting Xavi go for free. Barcelona may therefore be forced to pay the good 35 million kroner that Xavi's buy-out clause reads. However, Barça's sporting director, Mateu Alemany, should be ready to pay the clause so that Xavi can come home to the childhood club on Friday.

Xavi managed to play an insane 767 matches for FC Barcelona in the period 1998-2015 before taking his football dot in the Qatar and Al Sadd club, where in four seasons he managed to play 98 matches. In 2019, the boots on the shelf and the tactical board smoked in his hand in the same club, where he has led Al Sadd to two national championships.
