Personal push-up record - October 9 2025

(This photo from our Zugspitze summit hike shows that we had to go about 3 hours more to reach our target. Just before we had an one hour break at Knorrhütte (serviced alpine hut), the last chance to eat and drink something before the final ascent. At this point we had already been on the trail for more than 5 hours.)

Hello again,

hope all of you are fit and healthy. Let's have a look at today activities.

Had a successful 3 hour workout with lots of sweat. My main focus today was on push-ups. After a pretty long warm up period of nearly 30 minutes I started with normal push-ups and could do 165 in 5 sets what is a new personal record in terms of the push up count.
In detail I could do the following (the number in the brackets shows the break in seconds between the sets):

30 (120) 34 (120) 30 (150) 30 (300) 41

The next target looks like this:

30 (60) 34 (60) 30 (60) 30 (60) 40+

So I just have to shorten the break periods between the sets what is much more difficult than it seems to be. Let's see how long it will take until I can do it. I'm following a training plan that aims to ultimately be able to do 100 push-ups in a row. As you can see I am far away from it. ;-) I will keep you updated.

After the normal push-ups I did some shoulder pressing with dumbbells. I may talk more about this exercise in a later report, as it is not that important to me at the moment.

After this I did close grip push-ups an exercise that I started recently because I had problems with Epicondylitis in both elbows. The problem is still there but the pain is much less since a few weeks. At my first close grip session I could do 1 push-up. This exercise requires a lot of support from the triceps, and this muscle has always been my weakest. So now it needs to get stronger. In todays session I did 28 in 5 sets. That's actually pretty good progress, considering I only started training three weeks ago.
Here is it in detail:

5 (90) 6 (90) 4 (90) 4 (120) 9

The next target looks like this:

5 (60) 6 (60) 4 (60) 4 (60) 6+

As you can see my biggest opponent here is also the break time. But i think I can do it within the next two workouts. I will keep you updated here, too.

I finished today's training session with three sets of planks – 2:15, 2:15, and 3:00 minutes, with 2-minute breaks in between. I can tell you, in the very last minute, I was shaking like an earthquake.

With a 10-minute cool-down period, I was able to tick off this successful workout.

Now I am looking forward to my next workout, maybe on Saturday. Tomorrow I take care the dog of a friend. Think I will go out for a longer walk with it. Maybe I will write something about the tour tomorrow.

Be kind to each other and keep moving!
