Lovely animal experience while hiking - October 24 2025

(I was able to photograph this little friend on our Wendelstein hike in the summer.)
Hi Actifitters,
as mentioned in yesterdays post I had a rest day. I just did my minimum number of steps. So I have nothing to tell you in terms of sports. But let me share a short but nice memory.
When my wife and I were hiking up the Wendelstein in the summer, a butterfly landed on my shoe.

According to Google Lens, it belongs to the genus Erebia. I am not sure which species it is, though—perhaps Erebia ligea, the Arran brown. But it doesn't matter, let's agree that it is a beautiful animal.

As you can see on the title pic the little guy thought it is a good idea to land on my Garmin watch and he did not fly away for about 5 minutes.
It was a nice memory, and I hope to experience many more little beautiful moments like this on future nature trips.
That's all for today.
Be kind to each other and keep moving!

That butterfly is not afraid of and I can guess how accommodative you are for allowing the butterfly to rest on your shoe
