El rey no ha muerto, ¡Viva el rey!
Prólogo
La expresión “El rey ha muerto, ¡Viva el rey!”, tiene su origen en el contexto de las monarquías francesas e inglesas. La misma era usada cuando se daba la sucesión de un rey. El uso de esta frase implicaba un último reconocimiento al rey fallecido y la bienvenida a su sucesor. En el mundo del deporte, la frase es usada figurativamente por muchos periodistas para anunciar la retirada de un gran jugador y la llegada de una estrella joven y talentosa que lo relevará. Este nuevo jugador será el que ahora llene las portadas de sus diarios con noticias. En la actualidad, en el mundo del futbol, la frase suele usarse para referirse al ocaso de las carreras de jugadores como Lionel Messi (Cristiano Ronaldo también pudiera nombrarse acá, pero en este libro es de Messi y se hablará exclusivamente de él) y a la sucesión de los nuevos posibles monarcas como lo son Mbappé y Haaland.
Sin embargo, toca preguntarse, ¿Ha muerto el rey realmente, o es la prensa y los youtubers los que lo están destruyendo injustamente, ya que no “vende” como antes? Entiendo que no se puede tapar el sol con un dedo, y que la edad no pasa en vano. Se sabe que Messi se encuentran al final de su carrera, y que físicamente no hace lo que hacía 10 años atrás. Pero, de allí a querer retíralo ya, llamándolo “acabado”, “fracasado” y “mentira del futbol” es ir bastante lejos y es desconocer la grandeza de uno de los mejores deportistas que ha pisado una cancha de futbol. En este libro, dividido en tres capítulos comentaremos sobre la actualidad deportiva de Messi, su nuevo rol en el PSG y sobre lo que pudiera deparar su futuro.

Ni el propio Lionel Messi imaginó lo poca idílica que sería su salida del Barcelona, su casa y club de toda la vida, cuando mandó aquel burofax a Bartomeu en el 2020. Mucho menos se imaginó que Laporta y su junta “lo echaría” en un momento, en el que todos preveíamos una re-esstructuración total del club, con Lionel a la cabeza para liderar el nuevo proyecto deportivo. Esta repentina decisión dejó impactados a propios y extraños, pero principalmente a Lionel Messi, quien se da cuenta que el club no estaba dispuesto a sacrificarse económicamente por él (como lo había hecho hasta ahora). El club no pretendía caer en chantajes (como el CVC) , ni hacer malabares para que el sueldo del argentino encajase con las exigencias de La Liga, y con las propias del jugador y su entorno.
Así, dejó Messi el club al que llegó de muy joven y el cual le dio todo para convertirse en la estrella del futbol mundial que es. Messi respondió con goles, asistencias, jugadas que dejaban a los espectadores boquiabiertos, copas, ligas, balones de oro y patrocinantes. Se fue triste (con sus millones, pero triste); se fue sin despedida, sin esa última ovación en el Camp Nou; se fue peleado con Laporta y con otros miembros de la plantilla; se fue a tratar de agrandar su leyenda en un club nuevo y totalmente diferente a lo conocía. Se fue, y no sabe la afición culé cuándo y cómo volverá a la casa donde construyó su legado.
Nuevo Club. Viejas Metas. Nuevo Rol. Otra Decepción.
Lionel Messi firmó un contrato con el PSG por dos años. Una jugosa oferta económica, y la ilusión de ganar la Champions y de reencontrarse con Neymar y sus compañeros de selección, influyeron en esta decisión. No cabe duda de que Messi pensaba que en este club podía ganar nuevamente "La Orejon", que es realmente el título que le interesa ganar a nivel de clubes. Sin embargo, como pudimos ver el miércoles pasado, esta meta no lo podrá conseguir ya que el equipo fue eliminado de la actual edición de la Champions League a manos del Real Madrid. Esta nueva decepción deportiva, la cual se suma a las tantas que tuvo con el Barcelona, han intensificado las criticas hacia su rendimiento por parte de la prensa y de los aficionados, quienes injustamente le culpan del fracaso del club parisino la semana pasada.
En el PSG, Lionel Messi conforma un tridente de ensueño junto a Mbbappe y Neymar; sin embargo, Lionel Messi no es la figura de este tridente ni de este equipo, como siempre lo fue en el Barcelona. El argentino se ha cambiado su rol de goleador para convertirse en asistente del talentoso y rapidísimo Kylian Mbappé, quien es el goleador del equipo. Hasta dónde se puede ver, Messi está conforme con este nuevo papel y es el máximo asistente del equipo , junto con Mbappé. Desafortunadamente, y esto es lo que los aficionados y la prensa más resiente, es que , ya sea por la adopción de este nuevo rol o quizás por lo mermado de su físico, su capacidad goleadora se ha reducido. Ya no es el goleador voraz que disfrutamos en el Barcelona; ya no se corre una cancha entera dejando tirado a rivales como conos. No, en el PSG ya no es ese Messi. Ni siquiera en la Ligue One, que ganaran paseándola.
El Regreso a Casa y la Última Despedida.
A pesar de las tantas criticas de la prensa de Paris y los abucheos como los recibidos hoy en el Parque de los príncipes, Leo Messi sigue siendo un jugador extraordinario. A pesar de su actual falta de gol tiene una visión de juego asombrosa. Asimismo, es fenomenal en cuanto al control de los tiempos de juego, sus pases inimaginables y asistencia. Entonces, si algunas de sus cualidades siguen intactas, ¿por qué hay periodistas que insiste en retirarlo? Yo pudiera entender estos deseos de aficionados obtusos de algunos clubes rivales como el Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, Athletic de Bilbao, etc., a quienes Lionel Messi les arruinó con goles y asistencias sus esperanzas de títulos. Lo entendería, pero nunca de un culer, realmente.
Queda especular que hará Messi en caso de que el PSG quiera deshacerse de sus servicios este verano (situación que veo difícil). Pienso que Messi aún tiene cosas por dar en Europa, antes de largarse a la MLS. ¿Quién quita que pueda regresar al Barça si el PSG le deja libre? ¿No creen ustedes que mucho puede aportar en un papel secundario con jugadores le admiran y una afición que le ama? Quien sabe lo que espera el futuro, lo que queda por decir es que el rey aún no ha muerto, ¡Larga vida al Rey!

Prologue
The expression "The king is dead, long live the king!" has its origin in the history of the French and English monarchies. It was used when the succession of a king took place. The use of this phrase implied a last recognition of the deceased king and a welcome to his successor. In the world of sports, the phrase is used figuratively by many journalists to announce the retirement of a great player and the arrival of a young and talented star who will take over from him. Nowadays, in the world of soccer, the phrase is often used to refer to the decline of the careers of players like Lionel Messi (Cristiano Ronaldo can also be named here) and the succession of the new possible soccer monarchs such as Mbappé and Haaland.
However, it raises the question: has the king really "died", or is it the press and the youtubers who are unfairly destroying him because he no longer "sells" news as he used to? I understand that you can't cover the sun with a finger, and that age does not go unnoticed. It is known that Messi is about to end his career, and that physically he is not doing what he used to do 10 years ago. But, trying to call for his retirement, telling that he is a "finished player", and that he is "a failure" and "a soccer lie" is going too far and ignoring the greatness of one of the most brilliant athletes who has ever stepped on a soccer field. The exit
Not even Lionel Messi himself imagined, when he sent that burofax to Bartomeu in 2020, how hellish his departure from Barcelona, his lifelong home and club, would be. Much less did he imagine that Laporta and his board would "kick him out" at a time when we all expected a total restructuring of the club, with Lionel at the head of new sporting project. This sudden decision shocked all and sundry, but mainly Lionel Messi, who realized that the club was not willing to make financial sacrifices for him (as it had done so far). The club did not intend to fall into blackmail (like the CVC) and to juggle to make the Argentine's salary fit with the demands of La Liga, and with those the player had.
Thus, Messi left the club to which he arrived at a very young age and which gave him everything to become the star of world soccer that he is. Messi responded in kind with goals, assists, jaw-dropping plays, cups, leagues, golden balls and sponsorships. He left sad (with his millions, but sad); he left without a farewell, without that last long- standing ovation at the Camp Nou; he left fighting with Laporta and other members of the staff; he left to try to enlarge his legend in a new club, totally different from what he knew. He left, and the romantic Culé fans do not know when and how he will return to the house where he built his legacy.
New Club. Old Goals. New Role. Another Disappointment.
Lionel Messi signed a two-year contract with PSG. A lucrative monetary offer, and the illusion of winning the Champions League while reuniting with Neymar and his national teammates, influenced this decision. There is no doubt that Messi thought he could win again the "Orejona", which is really the title he is interested in winning at club level. However, as we saw last Wednesday, he will not be able to achieve this goal this season since his team was eliminated from the current edition of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid. This new sporting disappointment, which adds to the many he had with Barcelona, has intensified the criticism of his performance by the press and fans, who unfairly blame him for the failure of the Parisian club last week.
At PSG, Lionel Messi forms a dream trio with Mbappé and Neymar; however, Lionel Messi is not the figurehead of this trio or of this team, as he always was at Barcelona. He is no longer the voracious scorer we enjoyed at Barcelona; he no longer runs the length of the pitch, leaving opponents lying on the ground like cones. No, at PSG he is no longer that Messi. Not even in Ligue One, which they won by walking it.
The Homecoming and the Last Farewell.
Despite the many criticisms of the Parisian press and the boos received today at the Parc des Princes, Leo Messi is still an extraordinary player. Despite his current lack of goals, he has an amazing game vision. He is also phenomenal when it comes to controlling the tempo of the game; he does unimaginable ball passes and assists. So, if some of his qualities are still intact, why are some journalists insisting on retiring him? I could understand these wishes of obtuse fans of some rival clubs like Real Madrid. Manchester United, Juventus, Athletic Bilbao, etc., whose title hopes were ruined by Lionel Messi's goals and assists. I would understand, but never from a Culer, really.
It remains to speculate what Messi will do in case PSG wants to get rid of his services this summer (a situation I see very unlike to occur). I think Messi still has a lot of talented plays to offer in Europe before he leaves for MLS. Who's to say he can't return to Barça if PSG let him go, and don't you think he can contribute a lot in a secondary role with players who admire him and a fan base that loves him? Who knows what the future holds, what remains to be said is that the king is not dead yet, Long live the King!

No veo claro que regrese al Barca, Messi cobra mucho y el Barca ahorita no está para pagar esos salarios, además de que debe formar jugadores más jovenes para su futuro y no concentrarte tanto en jugadores que ya fueron. Creo que Messi cumplirá su contrato con el PSG y luego se irá a una liga exótica.
Hola @dedicatedguy . Gracias por pasar por aquí. Sí, es cierto. La única manera de que venga es así como vino Dani Alves, cobrando muy poco y teniendo un papel secundario. No veo al club haciendo lo que se negó a hacer en Julio. Queda de parte de Messi ver si eso le llena a él como persona y profesional, o si prefiere seguir llenando sus cuentas con dinero. En ese caso, le toca MLS. Yo sí quisiera que viniera con el mismo rol que tiene en el PSG (rol secundario, aunque acá la vuelve a romper), pero cobrando poco. Difícil, pero no se sabe qué puede ocurrir . Estoy segura que Xavi quisiera tenerlo por allí.

Sí, Messi aún tiene mucho que ofrecer al fútbol mundial. Pero sinceramente, el entrenador tiene que saber ponerlo en el juego.
Posiblemente Messi no corre como antes o no sea tan ágil como antes pero nadie le quita la experiencia, su sabiduría y por supuesto su visión de juego.
Ibrahimović y Riquelme, solo por mencionar dos jugadores, tuvieron la oportunidad de jugar bien avanzado los 35 años y lo hicieron muy bien.
Pochettino no ha sabido colocar a Messi en una posición donde Leo pueda aportar más y por lo que veo la era Messi aún no ha acabado mientras que la era Pochettino parece que sí.

Sabes... yo no veo a Messi de nuevo en el Barça. Esa fue una etapa maravillosa tanto para el club como para él.
Pienso que puede retirarse en el PSG pero caramba... tienen que dejarlo hacer sus asociaciones en el campo.
Él juega muy bien con Mbappé. Sabe lo que corre ese muchacho y le pone pases con precisión.
Pero no puedes poner a Messi a correr arriba-abajo sin tener clara la estrategia. Eso no debe hacer, incluso por la jerarquía de Messi en el fútbol.
Yo aprendí mucho de Riquelme cuando volvió a la Argentina. La forma en que lo pusieron a jugar podía hacerlo hasta los 50 años, jajaja.
