For some time now, I have wanted to talk to you about the series The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel to the famous series Game of Thrones. Both stories were written by George R.R. Martin. Due to the huge success of GoT, despite the ending that left most fans of the author's universe unhappy, new productions have been launched, the first being House of the Dragon, which is already awaiting its third season, and now this new series which, like the others, we were able to enjoy on HBO. Ira Parker is in charge of directing The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, alongside George R.R. Martin, where, unlike the House of the Dragon series, the author of these stories is involved in the production. Owen Harris, Sarah Adina Smith, and Andrea Harkin are other directors working on the series.

Ira Parker and R.R. Martin also participated in the script, which I think is great. The dialogues are very well written and, unlike the episodes in this series, they are short, most of them barely half an hour long, but this production is guaranteed to get to the point and not dwell too much on meaningless things. The series has six episodes; the first, if I'm not mistaken, was 42 minutes long; the others were shorter, as I mentioned earlier. This first season seemed short to me, but I understand that the book on which the story is based is not as long as the previous two on which the series will be based. This length leaves me with mixed feelings; on the one hand, I think it's good that the story gets to the point and doesn't show meaningless scenes, but on the other hand, I wanted more, because I found the story appealing and quite entertaining.

The series tells the story of Dunk, who became a knight of the Seven Kingdoms and travels alongside Egg (Aegon Targaryen), as the two embark on many adventures together, so much so that Dunk is mentioned in GoT. This story takes place before Game of Thrones, but after the events of HotD (House of the Dragon). This is the third television adaptation of the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise and is based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg, written by Martin. George R.R. Martin's universe is truly a masterpiece and, if used correctly, can yield great projects. I think the series I'm talking about today is good, but honestly, it's not quite up to the standard of GoT. However, it is better than HotD, which isn't bad. Nevertheless, without the involvement of the author of the story, there are things that have been done that I don't entirely like. I look forward to seeing what the third season of House of the Dragon will be like.

Desde hace tiempo que quería hablarles de la serie de El caballero de los siete reinos, una precuela de la tan famosa serie Juegos de tronos. Ambas historias escritas para George R.R. Por el éxito tan grande que tuvo GoT, más allá del final que no dejó contento a la mayoría de los fanáticos del universo del autor ya mencionado, se han lanzado nuevas producciones, siendo la primera La Casa del dragón, de la cual ya se espera su tercera temporada, y ahora esta nueva serie que, como las otras, la pudimos disfrutar por HBO. Ira Parker está a cargo de la dirección de El caballero de los Siete Reinos, junto a George R.R. Martin, donde, a diferencia de la serie de la Casa del Dragón, el autor de estas historias está metiendo mano en la producción. Owen Harris, Sarah Adina Smith y Andrea Harkin son otros directores que trabajan en la serie.

En el guion también participan Ira Parker y R.R. Martin, lo cual me parece bien. Diálogos muy bien realizados y, más que los capítulos de esta serie, son cortos, la mayoría de apenas media hora, pero esta producción se garantiza por ir al grano y no extenderse tanto en cosas sin sentido. La serie cuenta con seis episodios; el primero, y si no estoy mal, fue de 42 minutos; los demás fueron más cortos, tal como se los mencioné anteriormente. Esta primera temporada se me pareció corta, pero entiendo que el libro en el cual se basa la historia no es tan largo como las dos anteriores de las cuales se lanzarán las series. Esto del tiempo me deja sentimientos encontrados; por un lado, me parece bien que la historia se vaya al grano y se muestren escenas sin sentido, pero, por otro lado, quería más, pues la historia me pareció atractiva, bastante entretenida.

La serie nos habla de Dunk, quien se convirtió en un caballero de los siete reinos, quien vive viajes junto a Egg (Aegon Targaryen), como ambos viven muchas aventuras juntos, tanto es así que Dunk es mencionado en GoT. Esta historia es antes de Juego de Tronos, pero luego de los sucesos de HotD (La casa del Dragón). Esta es la tercera adaptación televisiva de la franquicia de Canción de hielo y fuego y se basa en los Cuentos de Dunk y Egg, escritos por Martin. El universo de George R. R. Martin es realmente una obra maestra y, si se sabe usar, se sacan grandes proyectos. Esta serie de la cual les estoy hablando hoy considero que es buena, pero la verdad tampoco a la altura de GoT, pero sí mejor que HotD, que no está mal; sin embargo, al no tener la participación del autor de la historia, hay cosas que se han hecho que no me han gustado de un todo. Espero ver cómo será la tercera temporada de La Casa del Dragón.

What I like most about the story is how straightforward it is, very simple and entertaining, without too many elements that often confuse the viewer. However, as I said, I would have liked a little more information about the characters, but I understand that the plot will be quite faithful to the book. Being faithful to the text, lifelong fans who have read the books will be happy, but for me, who hasn't actually read them, I often don't care; but on this occasion, I think the finished material is very good, an excellent story that we can enjoy. In the first episode, the story is a bit slow, but then it picks up pace with spectacular scenes that give us goosebumps. This is a well-executed dramatic comedy, although I must say that I missed the dragons, one of the reasons why I loved GoT. It's a simple story, without any overload, with comedy that is always well received.

I found the cast of The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms remarkable, with Peter Claffey as Duncan “The Tall” and Dexter Sol Ansell as Aegon “Egg” Targaryen, the latter being Dunk's faithful squire. What I like most about the series is the connection between the two actors who play the central characters; you can feel the chemistry between them, which makes the production stand out even more, each one transcending the screen with their characters. The cinematography is on par with the series, which has different settings where the story unfolds, with very well-crafted costumes. Behind this series, everything is done to perfection, especially when you want to create a series that is faithful to the book. The soundtrack is very good; it aims to distance itself from GoT with new compositions, although it often reminds me of it. The series does not have an intro; it goes straight into the story and does not show the intro that we liked so much in Game of Thrones, but at the same time I understand it. Artistically, both visually and sonically, the series does a magnificent job.

Lo que más me gusta de la historia es lo sencilla que es, muy simple y divertida, sin tantas cosas que mostrar que muchas veces confunden al espectador. Sin embargo, como dije, me hubiese gustado un poco más de información de los personajes, pero entiendo que la trama será bastante fiel al libro. Al ser fiel al texto, pues los fanáticos fieles de toda la vida que se han leído los libros estarán contentos, pero para mí, que la verdad no los he leído, muchas veces me da igual; pero en esta oportunidad creo que el material finalizado es muy bueno, una excelente historia que podremos disfrutar. En el primer capítulo la historia se torna un poco lenta, pero luego va agarrando ritmo con escenas espectaculares que nos erizan la piel. Esta es una comedia dramática, bien ejecutada, aunque debo decir que me faltaron los dragones, una de las razones por las cuales me encantó GoT. Una historia sencilla, sin sobrecarga en la historia, con comedia que siempre es bien recibida.

El cast de El Caballero de los siete reinos me pareció destacable, Peter Claffey como Duncan “El alto” y Dexter Sol Ansell como Aegon «Egg» Targaryen, este último el fiel escudero de Dunk. Lo que más me gusta de la serie es la conexión entre los dos actores que interpretan a los personajes centrales; se nota la química entre ambos, lo que hace que la producción destaque aún más, traspase la pantalla cada uno con sus personajes. La fotografía está a la altura de la serie, que posee diferentes escenarios donde se desarrolla la historia, con vestuarios muy bien trabajados, y es que detrás de esta serie las cosas se tratan de realizar a la perfección y más cuando se quiere lograr una serie fiel al libro. La banda sonora es muy buena; se quiere alejar de GoT, con nuevas composiciones, aunque sí muchas veces me recuerda a esta. La intro de la serie, pues no tiene; todo se va directamente a la historia y no se muestra la intro que tanto nos gustó de Juego de tronos, pero a la vez lo entiendo. Artísticamente, tanto en lo visual como en lo sonoro, la serie hace un magnífico trabajo.

In short, I find The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms to be a very fun and entertaining series. If I had to mention one downside, it would be the length of the episodes, because I find the story exceptional and want to see more, but I understand the decision of the producers and directors to shorten the episodes. I want to see the second season; I was fascinated by the series' approach, which was very different from its predecessors. In conclusion, I can describe the series as a solid production that is worth watching.

En fin, El caballero de los Siete Reinos me parece una serie muy divertida, entretenida y, si tendría que poner un pero, sería la duración de los episodios, pues la historia me parece excepcional, que quiero ver más, pero entiendo la decisión de los productores y directores de la producción de por qué acortar los episodios. Quiero ver la segunda temporada; la serie me fascinó el enfoque que se le dio, muy distinto al de sus predecesoras. En conclusión, les puedo definir la serie como una producción sólida y que vale la pena ver.
