Este domingo 5 de Marzo de 2023 en el óvalo de Las Vegas Motor Speedway, se llevará a cabo lo que es la tercera fecha de la temporada de la serie de la Copa NASCAR. El nombre del evento lleva por nombre Pennzoil 400 y este es uno de los mejores escenarios que más me gusta ya que siempre nos da carreras muy emocionantes, pero también hay diferentes actividades en la cual pueden compartir las familias y fanático de este hermoso deporte. Otra de las razones por la cual las expectativas están bastante altas es por el hecho de que esta es la primera carrera en un óvalo intermedio del campeonato, es decir, una pista de 1.5 millas, donde estas son las que componen la mayoría de las fechas del campeonato. ¿Quién se llevará la victoria en la Pennzoil 400? ¿Cuáles son los pilotos favoritos? y otros detalles más entorno a esta carrera, se las desarrollaré a continuación.

El ganador de la carrera pasada fue Kyle Busch, en el óvalo de Auto Club, un escenario de dos millas que es bastante diferente a Las Vegas, pista que se visitará este fin de semana. Busch tuvo una muy buena carrera, logrando la victoria tras partir desde la posición 21, debido a que se debió suspender la clasificación y se fueron a una nueva fórmula que usa la categoría para determinar las posiciones de salida cuando se cancela la qualy, donde se toma en cuenta el última resultado y las posiciones en el campeonato de propietario. Lo cierto es que Busch logro avanzar poco a poco en la carrera hasta llegar a la punto y adelante a su rival Ross Chastain. El inicio del piloto local para esta carrera del domingo, ya que hay que recordar que Kyle es oriundo de Las Vegas, ha sido excepcional, tanto en Daytona aunque las cosas no se le dieron al final y el pasado fin de semana en Fontana.

La pista existe desde 1972 cuando se inauguró, pero para ese tiempo su longitud era de 3/8 de milla, pero para 1996 fue donde paso a ser de 1.5 millas y así sigue hasta la actualidad. Aquí corren las tres divisiones nacionales de NASCAR, la máxima división (la Cup Series), la xfinity Series (segunda división nacional) y las camionetas. Para este fin de semana se espera que corran las tres, así que a partir del viernes tendremos mucha actividad en este escenario.
In several of my shared NASCAR reviews I have told you about Las Vegas, however it is worth remembering that this is an intermediate track of 1.5 miles, it has 4 curves, where each one of them has a camber of 20°. The track has existed since 1972 when it was inaugurated, but by that time its length was 3/8 of a mile, but in 1996 it became 1.5 miles and it is still 1.5 miles today. El ganador del año pasado en la primera fecha, ya que al año se visita dos veces Las Vegas, Alex Bowman del equipo Hendrick Motorsport, un piloto que tuvo un muy buen dominio del evento. De los pilotos activos quienes tienen la mayor cantidad de victorias son Brad Keselowski y Joey Logano, cada uno de ellos con 3. En mi opinión personal Kyle Busch es el piloto favorito para llevarse esta carrera, se le vio bastante bien en Daytona como ya se los había mencionado, y con la victoria del pasado domingo, viene motivado para llevarse nuevamente la victoria de la serie en semanas consecutivas. Busch también tiene los mejores números en cuanto a poles con 2, tops 5 con 11 y tops 10 con 14, además de tener el mejor promedio de finales en las últimas 5 carreras en esta pista con un average 3.8 y en las últimas 10 carreras (en Las Vegas) tiene un promedio de 6.5. Sin lugar a dudas por sus números que posee acá y por su actualidad es que veo a Kyle Busch como el gran favorito para esta carrera.

Obviamente a otro que no podemos destacar es a Alex Bowman, por su victoria del año pasado y es un conductor de autos stock que sabe hacer las cosas en las pistas intermedias, se le da muy bien. Lo mismo pienso de su compañero de equipo Chase Elliott, que si gana para nada sería un sorpresa ya que el equipo Hendrick Motorsport siempre viene fuerte para cada una de las competencias. Otro que parte según las encuestas de los expertos del deporte como favorito es Kyle Larson y como dejarlo a fuera si siempre da la pelea en las carreras más allá de no lograr la victoria. NASCAR es una categoría bastante reñida, que dar un claro favorito es imposible, pero aun así se puede opinar desde la experiencia y por el momento que esté viviendo cada uno de los equipos y sus pilotos, porque el momento es vital en NASCAR y este lo tiene Kyle Busch con su auto Chevy número 8, que en todas las carreras de la temporada (en las dos que se han desarrollado en 2023) se ha visto muy bien, luchando cada semana por el gane, esto se encuentra en su ADN.

Para esta carrera se espera una estrategia de al 4 paradas en los pits, aunque siempre sabemos que esto depende de la cantidad de banderas de precaución que se presenten en la carrera, ya que siempre los equipos llaman a sus pilotos para cambiar de neumáticos y abastecer de combustible, además de ir haciéndole modificaciones a los autos para mejorar su balance a medida que vaya avanzando la carrera. Para el día sábado 4 de Marzo a las 2:35pm ET de los Estados Unidos es cuando se espera que se dé el único entrenamiento libre, donde allí tendrán la oportunidad los equipos de colocar los autos para la pista a punto para la clasificación y carrera. La clasificación es el mismo día sábado, seguida de la práctica, con el mismo formato de una primera ronda que se divide en dos con la mitad de los inscritos para evento y los 5 más rápido avanzan para la ronda final donde sabremos cómo quedará conformado las primeros 5 líneas, incluyendo el poleman. La carrera es el domingo 5 de Marzo de 2023 a las 3:30pm ET, donde el total de vueltas a dar son 267 para los 400 millas, pero esta distancia está dividida en tres segmentos, la primera etapa a 80 vueltas, mientras que la segunda es a 85 y la tercera y final es a 112 giros, en la cual sabremos quien se quedará con esta Pennzoil 400 en Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
