RE: My Actifit Report Card: March 22 2022

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

This was an overrewarded post so I returned the rewards to the pool. Besides, you've posted so many times in the last couple days...Looks like you're getting spammy. That will lose you even more support.

I'll keep watching. Also, feel free to downvote my posts in reprisal if you like, that seems to be the normal thing to do.

Overrewarded? Around $3 USD? And you downvote it to $0? Really? Seriously? First, I walked a lot to reach 10 000 activity count with activity count, second, I live under the local minimum wage. Third, some people earn more with a single comment, containing a few sentences. If you cannot help, at least do not balk my plan of getting out of the financial discrimination. Besides, I also comment a lot. Post a lot. Upvote a lot.

@felixxx, @dswigle, @nathanmars, @zuerich, @joetunex, @savvyplayer, @rem-steem. What do you say to this? Finally one of my posts received a pending payout of more than a few cents, but it got downvoted to $0 by @galenkp, because he think that this is overrewarded.

I'll be very happy to drop 100% votes on your posts and have supported you in the past. But...Posting about what the temperature is and that you did 10,000 steps isn't worth 0.03c least of all $3.00. So, I returned the rewards back to the pool for others who post with more effort.

Add some effort and I'll be happy to vote you and send your posts to curangel.

I knew you wouldn't like it, but also figured you'd just spam several more posts a couple hours apart as you have been doing to make it up. It got your attention though right?

As I said in a comment to one of your other posts, there are people far worse off than you who do not whinge and complain about the small rewards they get, I support many of them. I even dropped a link to a post of one such person who wrote 1000+ excellent words in a post that received only a few cents to demonstrate...But you ignored that comment, whinged instead, and have ramped up your shitpost-operational-tempo.

You have a choice to make sir. Add some effort, and I don't mean walking 10,000 steps. Post better...If you do I can assure you I will reward it with my own votes consistently.

Also, stop your whinging and complaining, your negativity is repellant - Just get on with things, and things will happen for you. I've said this to you before, two years ago and here you are like a broken record. I want to support you mate, but you have to meet me half way.

I was going to reverse my vote on this depending upon your answer to me and reinstate the rewards (that aren't yours until reward payout seven days hence) however I think I'll let it stand for now. Maybe you'll like to take more users, to garner support, or maybe you want to work with me a little to earn it.

Your choice.

Probably you are right about the complaining part. I should not complain at all. But walking 10 000 steps is still an effort in itself. Although you are also right that I should write more than just/only the temperatures in my posts. I really would like to co-operate. Sorry, if I did any unpleasant things in the recent past. I do not used to ignore comments. Can you please drop a link to that comment? I would like to read it (or re-read it). Maybe I was tired, and I missed some of its parts. I am very sorry.

And I know that the rewards are finalized on the seventh day from posting. I would very much like to improve and co-operate as much as possible. I would be very grateful and very happy, if you would remove the downvote. I will try to improve. Both my attitude and my contents too.

Thank you so much, and sorry again for any inconvenience.

Thank you for your balanced reply.

I knew my downvote would make you mad, but am glad to see you have calmed down a little and are thinking laterally.

Please cease the negativity. Maybe set a goal to never mention your low income, how difficult it is for you, and that the blockchain doesn't leave human comments on posts. That last is completely incorrect and running the blockchain down isn't a legitimate action if you continue to be here. Don't like it? Leave.

Instead, find different things to post about, my #weekend-engagement topic each Friday lists some 5-6 topics each week as ideas. There are other communities that do the same. Don't tell us what you have done, just do more each day, post better, a minimum of 250 words, and give people a better opportunity to support you. Let your posts and effort speak for you rather than replaying the same message over and over.

Passion, personality and effort.

Also, be wary of posting many times a day as it will have the opposite effect than you wish. It's the same with tagging people, larger accounts (or anyone), with the hope it will gain you support. It will do the opposite.

Ownership, effort and discipline are things I reward, and I feel they have strong benefits if applied to a person's life. Show it and rewards will come.

Let's see how things go from here. Huh? Again, it's your choice.

I left a few comments here with the intention of actually helping despite having done so some two years past, with no effect. I tried to be measured in my response, genuine, open and to the point. Clearly it wasn't welcome.

I have a desire to help here on Hive and had thought I was doing so. What I mean here is addressing low effort, negative, anti-Hive content that doesn't look good to those looking from outside the blockchain. It's a two-pronged approach: Work with this user and make Hive appear better externally...I don't know if I'm wasting my time here although I know a few who would say I am.

I know what you do for the chain and it is highly appreciated. I also appreciate trying in this case, however, I wouldn't hold my breath. We've seen this episode so many times before but there's not much change as you can see. The level of entitlement here is so high you can't even imagine. Everything that is being said it is met with high level of rejection but good luck trying. Sometimes it's hard to understand that the blockchain does not owe anyone anything, everything must be earned, even respect.

Thanks for your kind words.

You know, when I took this step today I did so with the blockchain in mind as I have nothing to gain personally - I genuinely wanted to help. I also thought he may reprisal-downvote me...I got a reprisal downvote on my latest post for sure, not from this user, but from someone who upvotes this user's low-effort reward-pool-raping. I don't care about the downvote but was alarmed to see people willing to support this sort of behaviour whilst many out there receive no support for much better effort.

I admit that I had expected a little more from that person who chose to support this rubbish. Maybe I should lower my expectations huh?

Lol, this is funny. He downvoted me last year, when he did not like being called out for plagiarism, not that his downvotes are meaningful. I know you really wanted to help but you know how it is, your effort is in vain if the person doesn't want to be helped. Lol, I don't see why you should lower your expectations :)

Had this user downvoted me I would have thought nothing of it at all...Having another user downvote me on his behalf? Seems like people's thinking is skewed as it clearly shows support for this user which, no matter how I look at it, seems misplaced.

Anyway, at least I tried I guess. I feel better having done so one last time.

Since it seems that you are heavily affected by the downvote, I have spent some time typing this comment for you.

  1. I do wish that the caption on your #Actifit post is a bit longer. There was nothing that tells more about your fitness exercise apart from those from your Actifit app itself (such as Activity Count and Track Measurements), so I think that other people using Actifit won't be inclined to read your post and upvote it just because of the post itself.
  2. I always upvote your posts (and your comments too whenever I have a lot of Voting Mana) and tip you Hive tip tokens (whenever available) because I want to support you as a person with a clear goal of getting out of "financial discrimination", not necessarily because I really like every single one of your posts (and comments).
  3. I can't say I liked your post at https://peakd.com/@xplosive/cents-cents-cents-and-cents. I do see those (probably) short and/or low-effort posts on the Trending page with $20 or more pending payouts (and don't receive downvotes), but looking at the bigger picture on Hive shows that getting that much (for probably low-effort posts) has a relatively very small chance, so I think that you should not say that "my post earns cents while others often earn $20 or more". It's like for every 1,000 "low-effort" or "short" posts, there is (probably) 1 of them who "got lucky" getting upvotes of $20 or more (regardless of the time before the payout), and you pointed out that 1 out of 1,000 just because it showed up on the Trending page.
  4. Because I very often see on your posts and comments repetitive sentences (such as "I want to get out of financial discrimination", "I live with multiple disabilities under the minimum wage", "My posts earn only a few cents"), I often ignore them and focus on the other parts of your post or comment with those sentences. It doesn't make me (and at least some other people who would see your posts and comments) more inclined to support you.

I have sent you a small gift of 1 HBD. I hope you can move on with the downvote here, and make your posts more positive (i.e. less negative) and have more content relevant to your post (like my recommendation on #1) to gradually attract more upvotes. I saw your other posts (and comments), and they weren't affected by downvotes (and I hope too they don't get downvoted by anyone).

Maybe you would like to share how you danced (with or without a picture or video) next time, since you specified "Dancing" on your Activity Type on Actifit. 😂

Since this comment is long, I will request an #Ecency Boost for this comment. It's okay for me if Ecency is unable to fulfill my Boosting Request, since this won't be the only long comment (and post) I would make here on Hive.

I give you my full (tiny) upvote, some !PIZZA, some !BEER, some !WINEX, some !ALIVE, some !LOLZ, some !PGM, some !HBIT, and some !LUV. I hope that other people won't see the replies of the tipping bots as "spam".

Hivebits blends Hive's blockchain and Bitcoin's ethos. Your effort = your reward. Mine HBIT simply 1-per-day with (no space): ! hivebits or ! HBIT or ! hbit or $ hbit.
Success! You mined .9 HBIT and the user you replied to received .1 HBIT on your behalf. You can receive 100% of the HBIT by replying to one of your own posts or comments. Or, support Hivebits at the official HBIT mine | your wallet | market | tools | connect | <><

This confirmation reply will go off when Resource Credits (RCs) get low. Yet, your hivebits command will still go through and you'll get your HBIT. :)

They will. I will write longer posts in the future.

I always upvote your posts (and your comments too whenever I have a lot of Voting Mana) and tip you Hive tip tokens (whenever available) because I want to support you as a person with a clear goal of getting out of "financial discrimination", not necessarily because I really like every single one of your posts (and comments).

I am very grateful and very happy for every help and support. Thank you so much for the constant support. But the downvote by @galenkp removed all of the rewards on this post. Although he mentioned that maybe he will remove it. If I am not wrong, then this depends on what and how I post today and in the upcoming days.

This is true. I should really stop complaining. My brother has around $3000 USD debt, and he does not complain about anything.

I have sent you a small gift of 1 HBD. I hope you can move on with the downvote here, and make your posts more positive (i.e. less negative) and have more content relevant to your post (like my recommendation on #1) to gradually attract more upvotes.

Thank you so much for the $1 HBD. This helps a lot. When I will buy an SUV or anything, I will certainly mention you as one of my best supporters. Also thank you again for the constant/regular tipping tokens support. There is a possibility that galenkp will remove the downvote. Probably he will do it after he will see that I really improve, and being positive in my posts/comments, leaving all the complaining and negativity behind.

Maybe you would like to share how you danced (with or without a picture or video) next time, since you specified "Dancing" on your Activity Type on Actifit. 😂

This was not an accident. I actually/really danced (alone) in my room. Or rather moved my body forwards and backwards, and my arms randomly. 😂 I listen to various YouTube songs. But I am not brave enough to record this on a photo, nor on a video.

I give you my full (tiny) upvote

I done the same ($0.052), and I also give you some !PIZZA, !LUV and !LOLZ.

Also thank you for the support, for the constructive critique, and for taking the time to write this long comment.

But the downvote by @galenkp removed all of the rewards on this post. Although he mentioned that maybe he will remove it.

The downvote was designed to get your attention and it worked. I did it that way as I didn't think you'd listen to me if I did not. This, after you had completely ignored a lengthy comment I left on your post a while ago. (I will drop the comment below for you.)

So yes, I did say I may lift the downvote based on your reaction, and I will be true to my word and review it for sure. Consistent effort mate, that's what it will take. Not just up until I lift the downvote but after because downvotes can rain down at any time. You know?

Unfortunately you've gained yourself a reputation, not a great one, which is rather sad. You know, you've been here longer than I have (I started June 13 2017) and I think you should know what it takes to do it right. Cease the negativity, show greater effort, stop the repetitive dialogues...Things will probably improve for you.

I did not ignored it. If you would really know me, then you would know that I do not ignore meaningful comments. I either upvote it or reply to it, or both. I simply did not saw it so far. It happens sometimes. And not just/only with me, but with others too. Next time feel free to mention (tag) me in a comment, instead of downvoting me.

Of course I replied to the above mentioned comment. Sorry again for the late reply.

I see that you have now replied to that comment, and I have replied to the reply. It's all good.

It's go that you post meaningful comments, apply that strategy with your posts, give us a little more to like and I think you'll be on the right track.

Before you click post or reply just stop for a second, re-read what you wrote and eliminate anything negative in nature. If you do that enough times it will become a habit.

I have fully read your comment at least twice, though I don't have much to say right now because I have already put most of what I would say on my last comment.

I don't think you should get too upset with the downvote (even if it isn't removed before post payout). Your comment there already has upvotes from #Ecency and other Hive users more than what your #Actifit post originally had.

Regarding your dance, I didn't say that you should take a video or picture of yourself while dancing to share with the public. You can just detail how exactly you danced by just using words.

Thank you for the long reply, the upvote, the !PIZZA, the !LUV, and the !LOLZ. I also give you some !ALIVE and some !PGM.

Hi @galenkp, I think you and I don't always see eye to eye, which is fine because, in my opinion, differences are what make the world a stronger place. Regardless, you seem like a person with integrity. On the one hand, I do understand what you did here and why. You explained it, and, anyhow, it was obvious.

However, I feel that you might have missed a dimension of the situation, and maybe you didn't. In case you did, though, I thought I would point it out from my perspective.

@xplosive has mentioned on several occasions that he is on the autistic spectrum, so I don't think that is a secret. Do you know much about that spectrum of conditions? I ask because I have both training and experience with this. I had a friend who had Asperger's syndrome, for example (which is no longer called Asperger's because psychiatry loves to change things).

On the one hand, my friend was highly intelligent. He had a Masters in Statistics. His vocabulary exceeded mine (and mine is reasonable). He remembered literally everything. So, no one can accuse him of stupidity. However, my friend was socially extremely unintelligent, and it was absolutely not his fault. I am not saying this is who @xplosive is. I am saying that if you are on the spectrum, being socially appropriate and noticing and accepting social cues is extremely challenging.

For me, university physics is extremely challenging. I really have difficulty understanding it. I took some courses in it, and I am pretty sure the Prof thought I was an idiot. However, I tried because I was interested in learning and expanding my horizons.

I think it is laudable that @xplosive makes such an effort in a medium (social media) that cannot possibly be his element because it is not the element of anyone on the spectrum. It is, I believe, easier than face to face interaction, but still.

I think it is good that you took time out of your life to explain the problem. There was probably a shock value to removing the rewards for this post even if it does seem very mean-spirited. Maybe it is a sort of "tough love" that will have value in the long run. You have probably noticed that I am soft hearted and such gestures are not in my nature. It is probably good that you were so blunt.

Nonetheless, I think it is also important that there is room on the blockchain for diversity. We have room on the blockchain for people stating their beliefs, some of which we disagree with. I think it is great that you pinpointed the exact things that are causing @xplosive problems. I hope it will help. I hope you remove the downvote because I think the message was received. That is just my opinion.

Either way, I think it was counteracted by others. I just wanted to offer a perspective because I think it is easy to judge.

I found it remarkably easy to get annoyed by my friend who had Asperger's. I got irritated with him constantly. I had to remind myself that he did not decide to repeat himself. He did not decide not to understand my facial expressions or my sarcasm. At last, I just was brutally honest with him. If he made me mad, I said, "You are making me mad." That seemed to work well.

My friend's girlfriend was not so understanding. She was constantly furious at him for reasons that would be obvious to anyone. Except him. I had to explain it to him. When I explained it, I had to prove it using examples he provided to me. If you have not had a friend who is on the spectrum, it is hard to understand. Repetition, frustration, and a bit of obsession -- these are part of the territory. If you really can't handle that, wouldn't it be kinder to mute @xplosive than to downvote?

I get that you might think he has a negative impact on the blockchain, but there are positive and negative things on Hive. @xplosive is not even in the ballpark of the most negative things, and I think we would all do better to just focus on the positive.

That being said, maybe this downvote (which I still hope you will remove) did help @xplosive to understand how to fine tune his posts so as not to irritate people. I think many of us, like @savvyplayer, tend to read "around" the negativity and repetition. If @xplosive can edit those out, it would definitely improve his writing. If he can take your suggestion to write on new and different topics, that is a good idea also.

I notice @xplosive's post about amateur radio last week, for example, was very successful.

Wishing you the best regardless of your decision,

Harlow

Wow. Thank you so much for writing such a long, meaningful and understanding comment.

I think it is laudable that @xplosive makes such an effort in a medium (social media) that cannot possibly be his element because it is not the element of anyone on the spectrum. It is, I believe, easier than face to face interaction, but still.

And English is not even my mother tongue. My mother tongue is Hungarian, which is very far from English, but I still try to do my best.

I improved in face-to-face communications over the years. Nowadays it is not as hard as it was for example 10 years ago. I feel like that I do not even have difficulties, but I still notice that my communication is different from the communication of the most of the people.

Repetition, frustration, and a bit of obsession -- these are part of the territory.

You are right about this. At least in my case. And once I also had dysthimia, which is a chronic form of depression. But I am indeed trying to improve, and be better.

I think many of us, like @savvyplayer, tend to read "around" the negativity and repetition. If @xplosive can edit those out, it would definitely improve his writing. If he can take your suggestion to write on new and different topics, that is a good idea also.

Usually there is one repetition I intentionally do, which is the greetings part at the end of my posts/comments. I also noticed similar repetitions from other users, but of course I am trying to improve my writing, and I am trying not to be repetitive, nor negative.

I notice @xplosive's post about amateur radio last week, for example, was very successful.

Speaking of amateur radio, recently I reached 70 subscribers on my (HA5KZO) YouTube channel. I uploaded 85 videos so far since 2012.04.19 (in the previous almost 10 years), so I have not uploaded videos regularly, but maybe I will in the future.

Thank you so much again for taking the time and the effort to write down this comment.

Thank you. To be clear, the repetition at the end of your comments is pleasant in my opinion. It is when you mention multiple disabilities, being low income, and being on the brink of homelessness that it appears negative. Despite being true and quite desperate, it gets repetitive and negative.

I struggle with similar things. For example, I am severely depressed and hormonal much of the time. I do mention these things quite frequently, but I try to balance this with other things. What I mean is that I might write an essay about the experience I am going through, and there may even be a week or two where it is all quite bleak.

However, I try to notice that and think, "What else could I write that people might be interested in?" I think the latter question is more challenging if you are on the spectrum because considering what might be of interest to others tends to be a challenge for some.

Maybe you have opinions or ideas about world events or local happenings. Those can make good essays. I find the ecoTrain question of the week thought provoking. Even if it is the wrong week, you can use the topic as an idea for a post.

I hope that is a little helpful. I can see that you struggle. I think many others see it also.

My downvotes (or upvotes) are cast on the content, nothing more.

I have known for a long time about this users situation, and spoke at length to someone (who used to support him) before casting my downvote in a bid to arrest his self-caused backslide into oblivion.

Well, fair enough, @galenkp . I don't know your history with @xplosive. Judging all written work solely on its own merit is certainly a criterion no one can fault you for. I think you used your downvote for shock value to help @xplosive improve.

Ultimately, if that happens, that will lead to a profound increase in income for @xplosive and may be life-changing. I am not blind to the fact that kindness comes wrapped in many guises.

I hope @xplosive takes some of the advice here because I think it truly can lead to a real improvement in his life.
