My Actifit Report Card: June 18 2025

Hello Hive!

At our place, we have a very ugly cinder block wall on one side of the garden. I really can’t stand it. In front of this wall, nettles grow at an incredible speed. I had already removed part of them and turned over the soil to plant two butternut squash plants that I had germinated.

But I would like to remove even more to plant my pole beans. With a bit of luck, it will make a nice green wall… and in addition, it will feed us!

Yesterday at noon, I therefore set myself to the tedious task of removing the nettles and weeding as much as possible over about 6 meters in length. In the end, I only managed to clear 2 meters. It wasn’t just nettles to remove. Underneath, there was stacked wood, stones, pieces of glass (who knows why), and all kinds of other junk.

On top of that, it was very hot at that moment. It was 2 PM, right under the sun. So I decided to go back up to work on my mobile app and leave it aside.

Around 8 PM, after doing some shopping with @altheana, we put on our running shoes for our first session of the week, since Tuesday’s had been skipped because I wasn’t at home.

It was all the more motivating as we changed our program. We switched from 8 x 2 minutes of running (with 2 minutes break between each) to 5 x 3 minutes of running, still with 2 minutes break. In other words, we add one minute to each running interval, keep the same rest time, but reduce the number of repetitions.

It was still hot at that time, but it was bearable. And as a bonus, we had the beautiful end-of-day colors.

According to my connected ring, we covered slightly fewer kilometers than usual. Logical, since we did fewer repetitions. However, the estimated calories burned are almost the same: 206 versus 240 usually. Which is easily explained, the fact of having increased the running duration made my heart rate go up, even with fewer repetitions.

If we had done 8 repetitions instead of 5, we would no doubt have burned even more calories.

Other than that, the session was nice. The only downside was all the gnats awakened by the evening warmth, who were desperately trying to sneak into our mouths, noses, or eyes. Breathing was therefore hard to maintain.

Bonjour Hive !
