My Actifit Report Card: February 8 2026
Hello Hive, hello athletes!
Yesterday, with @altheana and another member of the family, we took part in a cross-country race. We had signed up several weeks ago. And at that time, it still seemed very far away.
On Saturday, the day before the race, we did a few things around the house. Nothing too heavy, but some sanding and taking down a big shelf. And in the evening, I was invited to friends’ place. We went to bed late.
Obviously, waking up on Sunday morning to go run in the mud wasn’t the easiest.
But we did it. We got ready, then we went to pick up our bib numbers.

With @altheana, we’re used to running, but more on the road, and especially when there’s no one around. Cross-country is kind of the hardcore version of running. It’s mud, a forest, big climbs and descents that completely break the rhythm.
The paths are narrow, overtaking is extremely difficult. In short, I’m not here to complain, but it wasn’t very pleasant.
In the end, we left the race about halfway through to continue the session outside of it.
What we take away from this experience is that we’re not really fans of cross-country. Especially the day after a night out 😅

Hier, avec @altheana et un autre membre de la famille, nous avons participé à un cross. On s’était inscrits il y a plusieurs semaines. Et à ce moment-là, ça nous paraissait encore très loin.
Samedi, la veille de la course, nous avons fait quelques travaux dans la maison. Rien de très lourd, mais du ponçage et le démontage d’une grosse étagère. Et le soir, j’étais invité chez des amis. On s’est couchés tard.
Forcément, le réveil dimanche matin pour aller courir dans la boue n’était pas des plus faciles.
Mais on l’a fait. On s’est préparés, puis on est allés récupérer nos dossards.

Avec @altheana, on a l’habitude de courir, mais plutôt sur route, et surtout quand il n’y a personne. Le cross, c’est un peu la version hardcore du running. C’est de la boue, une forêt, des grosses montées et descentes qui cassent complètement le rythme.
Les chemins sont étroits, doubler est extrêmement difficile. Bref, je ne suis pas là pour le plaindre, mais ce n’était pas très agréable.
Au final, on a quitté la course à peu près à mi-parcours pour continuer la séance en dehors.
Ce qu’on retient de cette expérience, c’est que nous ne sommes pas vraiment fans du cross. Surtout un lendemain de soirée 😅
