Match preview: Chelsea vs West Brom

The EPL returns again this weekend with many exciting fixtures. One of those fixtures is Chelsea FC of London playing host to West Bromwich Albion FC in a match that promises to be one of the main attentions of the weekend. Chelsea will be going into this game at the backdrop of a huge performance in the carabao Cup where they drubbed their opponent a 6 unreplied goals with one of their newest signings, Kai Havertz, getting a hatrick in the game. The link-up play between Kai and Tammy Abraham was so pleasant to watch and we are more likely to witness the same this weekend with Chelsea deploying a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Of course, Timo Werner should be accommodated with him and Tammy switching between the left side of the attack and the top striking position. Tiago Silva had a decent performance in the carabao cup, bringing the much needed stability to a much troubled backline. Kante was rested for the cup match and would be expected to feature along the either of Jorghino or Kovacic. In the goalkeeping department, Caballero produced some astounding saves in the carabao Cup match but with the arrival of a new goalkeeper in the person of Mendy, it is not going to be easy to predict who'll start in that department.

Predicted line-up: Kepa, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Tomori, Jorghino, Kante, Mount, Havertz, Werner, Abraham.
Injured: Ziyech, Pulisic

West Brom were exited by Brentford in the carabao Cup during the week. Ivanovich might be facing his former club after signing for West Brom but Chelsea loanee, Gallagher, will not be featuring against his parent club. The team will be looking to getting their first points of the season coming from the backdrop of two defeats in a row conceding a record of 8 goals in the process.

Possible line-up: Johnstone; Furlong, Ajayi, Ivanovic, O'Shea, Townsend; Pereira, Sawyers, Livermore, Diangana; Robinson

My Prediction

Chelsea lost out to Liverpool in their last match playing with one man short after Christian pulled down a goal-bound Sadio Mane. The game could have been better contested towards the tail end had it been that Jorghino was able to convert the penalty. The team has picked itself up since then and gave an outstanding performance in the carabao Cup. I expect them to take an easy victory against West brom this term. My prediction is a 3:0 to Chelsea.

Great post. Hope your predictions turn out true. Have you heard of the League Management game that just launched on Hive yesterday? - Rabona is the name.
