The friendly matches aren't meaningless like many people think, the results might not justify what the team's performance will be in a competitive match but they can give you a glimpse of how teams have progressed especially during times like this when the season hasn't started and clubs are also bringing in fresh legs to boost their chances of success in the new season.

The 2022/23 Premier League season would kick off in less than two weeks and I can tell how anxious a lot of people are because I am eager to see it kickoff as well. We have seen a lot of upgrades in teams, players moving here and there, and I am having a feeling that we are about to experience one of the most electrifying seasons in the English Premier League.

We have seen new coaches come on board and great players from across the globe who are already making their presence felt at the preseason level, I came up with this post to share my thoughts about the upcoming season and I will love to know your opinion about the club's preparation without negative sentiments.

The Premier League will be more competitive this season.

We have seen Manchester City dominate the English Premier League for a few seasons, winning the title back to back is a huge success for Pep Guardiola and the club in general.

Last season, they were challenged by Liverpool to the final minutes of the league race but they came out victorious at the end of the challenge. Liverpool has been City's challenger for a while now but I can tell things will change in the coming season.

There will be lots of challengers for the title in the season since every club has taken serious measures to ensure their success in the coming season. The race for the title will be challenging and the top four battle won't go easy for any team as well, there is definitely no assurance for any team due to the level of preparation of other clubs.

Like I said earlier that the preseason matches don't guarantee anything but they will give us an insight into what to expect from teams after their big spending in the transfer window.

Arsenal is one of the Premier League clubs that have been quite impressive during the preseason, we have seen them do this in preseason matches before now but the team is playing with more energy than usual.

The team turned up new energy at the end of last season while trying their possible best to make the top four but Tottenham outclassed them and they had to settle in the Europa League. I don't know if to choose Arsenal or Manchester United for the most improved team judging by their performances so far in the Premier League but I can tell that they have gone through drills and the results are what we are seeing.

The presence of Gabriel Jesus has brought so much energy into the team, the ex-Manchester City player seems to be turning things around in attack for Arsenal. He has scored in three out of their last four matches which is quite impressive and I don't see him dropping this awesome impact on the club.

Arsenal completed the signing of Zinchenko and Viera as well, I think they are up for the challenge in the coming season and I wouldn't be surprised if they pull up a surprising performance in the coming season. They have scored 14 goals in their four preseason matches so far, and that tells the impact of the new signings on the team.

I predict Arsenal to have one of their best seasons, the titles might not be guaranteed but they wouldn't go down without a fight in the coming season.

After everything we saw with Manchester United in the last season, I can't help but congratulate Manchester fans on the new form and energy in the team. Things went from bad to worse for Manchester United under the reign of Ralf Rangnick, the team fell below expectations and the 2021/22 season ended as their worse season in the history of the club.

The players lacked motivation, the coach wasn't helping matters by playing his men in the wrong positions and everything summed up to what we saw in the previous season but things are looking different under the new manager's watch.

Erik Ten Hag looks like one of the most disciplined coaches out there, you can easily tell that after Manchester United players spent their holiday training so hard to remain fit ahead of the new manager's arrival. He has transformed the team within a short time and we can see every player showing the desire to play.

Manchester United have shown what they are capable of doing and their story under the previous manager was like that of a man who had a gun but couldn't use it in battle. It is a different story with Ten Hag, it looks like he is an expert with handling a sophisticated weapon.

Three wins and a draw in their last four matches might not mean a lot to people, I am not really impressed by the numbers of goals scored but the team style of play has changed a lot.

The club was absolutely down in attack without Cristiano Ronaldo last season but the Portuguese forward hasn't featured in United preseason matches and yet, we are seeing results. They have scored 13 goals so far in four matches this preseason and that's a lot of improvement if you ask me, they are not in the best shape yet but with more training, the team will reach a huge point to cause lots of trouble in the new Premier League season.

The likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool are still in good shape even though some of their vital players are gone. They have invested in people who can help the team and there shouldn't be many worries but it won't be as easy as it was last season since the sleeping lions are awake, every team's competitive spirit seems to be high at the moment.

Chelsea is the only Premier League top side that hasn't shown us much of what to expect in the coming season, losing two out of their three preseason matches doesn't mean they aren't in good shape. Thomas Tuchel might just be cooking something up with the team, it must be disappointing for them to lose two finals to the same team in the previous season but it is not the end of the world.

It would be a mistake to look down on the blues because of their poor preseason run, they have got fresh legs that can turn games around for good.

I am not expecting anything less from the teams in the coming season and as I have said earlier, it would be electrifying. I have started the countdown and I am looking forward to more surprising transfer news before the end of the transfer window.

The friendly matches aren't meaningless like many people think,

Fact! This is so true! Well, if your team continues to be on the losing side you may just conclude that the friendly matches are meaningless but deep down, we all know that all these counts.

I think this season is really going to be intense and very interesting because the big six clubs in the Premier League did good job in the transfer window. There are still questions to be asked about how impactful these signings are going to be, but on paper, everything seems to be nicely done.

You may be right as Arsenal could only improve on what they did last year as I thought they were lucky to finish so high with such a weak team. United I have my doubts as this is not going to be a quick fix as the same players are still there. Tottenham are the one team who seem to be well prepared along with City and Liverpool. I see the pre season results as more about fitness than the score line. The depth of the squads is going to be the biggest test this season with the World Cup smack bang in the middle of the season.

I am seriously bracing up to see so many new players and how teams would shape out. It's going to be crazy in terms of the quality and competition for places. I am super excited because of the quality of players the EPL pulls. It's going to be exciting next season and I can't wait...
