This could be Manchester United worst season...

Manchester United haven't only failed to qualify for the Uefa Champions League considering their position on the league table and the remaining matches they have left this season, the 2021/22 season could turn out to be United's worst season in the club's history in the top-flight league.

Last night's performance from Manchester United wasn't something many were expecting and I was surprised last night to see them hold their ground against Chelsea, was it because they played against Chelsea?

I wouldn't agree that was the case because they were beaten by other top clubs in the league, I have known big teams keeping good records against each other but yesterday wasn't about rivalry or anything, the team applied a bit of passion into the game and it made a difference. Before the match, my brother who is a Manchester United fan said he will face another humiliation today against Chelsea and I asked why even Manchester United has become a team everyone has condemned to failure, taking a draw out of Chelsea's encounter has shown that the team still has a fire burning in it. Manchester United conceded seven goals in their last two matches against Liverpool and Arsenal so it is understandable to see them get scared of the London side.

It all happened at Old Trafford, Manchester United hasn't lost a home since the first of March this year. Despite their woeful performances for quite some time now, they still keep the home integrity which hasn't been enough to keep the team in a preferred spot in the English Premier League table.

Chelsea on the other has been doing great this season, they have won the last four matches and scored a good number of goals but the team form was handled well by the Manchester side even though they earned the bigger share of ball possession.

The match was just a replica of the first leg, it ended in a draw at Stamford Bridge as well and both goals were scored in the second half just like it happened in the first leg.

Marcus Alonso scored the opening goal in the match, he put Chelsea ahead but Ronaldo canceled the lead with a fantastic strike just two minutes later. The goal made it Ronaldo's 17th goal for Manchester United in the English Premier League this season in 27 games, without argument he has been one of the strengths of Manchester United this season.

The football legend has single-handedly won matches for United despite being criticized and I think United would suffer more without him in a terrible time. The penalty Bruno Fernandez lost against Arsenal should have been given to him and he could have scored which will inspire the team spirit, they might have gotten a draw out of that encounter.

A player like Ronaldo is not expected to convert every chance at his age but his experience with sets pieces can't be compared to that of any player on that team and that's where they need him most.

United currently sits 6th and could end up higher if they win all their fixtures against Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Brighton. They still have the Europa spot to fight for and it is better than not playing at all in any Uefa Competition.

This might eventually be the worst Manchester United season since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, they struggled to finish seventh with 64 points in the 2013/14 season and they could end up lower to 64 points if they fail to win all matches this season which quite sounds almost impossible.

They need all 9 points to equal their worse season else they do be creating another memory of the club terrible season.

I hope they return to their glory days with the coming of the new manager, I still believe in United.

I think I'll agree it's our worse season if we end up below 7th which I do not think is possible.

Time will tell, Brentford won't go easy on United and I hope Ronaldo is in his scoring mood.

I wrote in a recent post of mine about Uniteds relegation from the top flight in 1974. I think that record is safe. Amazing to think how important Sir Alex Ferguson was

Ferguson played a huge role in the history of the club, I hope the new manager coming at the end of the season can step into Freguson's shoes.
