Chinese New Year: Year of the Horse 2026

Today is the Chinese New Year. As you should know, in the Chinese zodiac calendar, this year is the horse year, and Chinese people are celebrating with their families at home or by gathering in restaurants.

Since last week, Chinese people have returned to their hometowns to reunite with their families and spend these fantastic holidays. Most people work outside their hometowns and travel to other cities, and only during this big holiday do they have the chance to go back and stay with their loved ones.

During this holiday, it is very hard to find a train ticket because Chinese citizens use trains extensively to move around China, and it is very convenient, with high-speed and regular trains available. Within hours or less, you could arrive at your destination, of course, according to the distance.

Chinese people love to visit the flower market to buy flowers because flowers symbolise a new beginning and prosperity as the new year approaches.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, Chinese families gather at home, eat, wait for the countdown, and watch TV. There is always a special TV programme for this day, featuring performances and many popular singers singing their best songs.
