What a surprise we have been treated to with this African Cup of Nations with so many big teams like Ghana being shown the exit doors and so many underdogs making waves in the tournament. There were shocking results and we have also seen some amazing games. Football is full of surprises and this isn't different in that regard.

Burkina Faso v Gabon.

Both teams came second in their respective groups with Burkina Faso having 4 points and Gabon finished with 5 points. We have seen a couple of surprises in these games and Gabon being without their talisman; Aubameyang, have done well for themselves and I strongly believe they would win against this Burkina Babes by 2-1.

Nigeria v Tunisia.

Nigeria enjoyed a perfect start to the tournament, winning all their 3 games in the group stage with a blend of talents on display while, Tunisia, shockingly finished 3rd and qualified as one of the best losers in the tournament after a 1-0 loss in their final game against Gambia.

Tunisia cannot be pushed over but I am tilting Nigeria to win this game by 3-1.

Guinea v Gambia.

Both teams finished 2nd in their groups but Gambia was joint top in their group with 7 points, level with Mali but slipped to 2nd on goal difference. Guinea finished with 4 points but this is a direct one from me and I am going with Gambia to win this encounter by 1-0.

Cameroon v Comoros.

The host country was given an easy draw for this round and even though Comoros have a good account of themselves despite being an island with a total population of around 900,000 people. They qualified as one of the best losers while Cameroon topped their own group with 7 points and Comoros with 3 points after their impressive showing in defeating the Black Stars of Ghana in a thrilling 3-2 encounter.

Sadly, I am predicting this to be the end of the road for them as there won't be any upset on the card and Cameroon would win by a resounding 3-0.

Senegal v Cape Verde.

Senegal finished top of their group with 5 points while Cape Verde got through to the next round by being one of the best losers in 3rd place with 4 points. Sadio Mane's men haven't been particularly impressive but they shouldn't have any problem in putting Cape Verde down with a 2-0 win.

Morocco v Malawi.

It's the battle of the first v one of the best losers respectively as Morocco finished with 7 points and Malawi finished with 4 points. It won't be an easy one for Morocco but I expected them to go through if not on penalties then it should be by a 2-1 win.

Ivory Coast v Egypt.

This is one of the tough clashes of the round and even though Egypt finished 2nd with 6 points, they haven't been particularly impressive also in this tournament. They didn't win their 2 games convincingly and playing against Ivory Coast who finished 1st with 7 points would be another battle they would have to face.

I am going with a win for Ivory Coast barring any penalty given to Egypt because I don't trust Bailly with Salah inside the box as he could be clumsy sometimes. I feel Ivory Coast would win by 2-1 if not 3-1.

Mali v Equatorial Guinea.

Mali and Equatorial Guinea would tussle it out as they both finished 1st, with 7 points and 2nd, with 6 points respectively. This is going to be a tough one and it's either a goal-fest between the 2 sides or Mali edge it by a solitary goal, either way, I am going with Mali, to conclude the round of 16 encounters.

Who are you rooting for and what would your predictions be?

Cheers.
