The day I walked 13,000 steps / 13,000歩歩いた日 - My Actifit Report Card: July 12 2025

Today was truly a day of a lot of walking. I’ll just write down my step count first, but I walked 13,000 steps!
Since mid-June, it’s been over 30 degrees every day, and lately, I’ve only been able to walk after the sun goes down. But today, the high was 25 degrees—apparently 10 degrees lower than the day before. From the morning (or, to be precise, from last night), the breeze felt as cool as autumn, and I couldn’t have been happier.
Today’s first walk started with my “flag duty” at the elementary school. This involves watching over the kids as they head to school, walking with them part way along the school route, but this morning, I got a bit irritated.
Two first-graders were swinging their umbrellas around, poking each other, and opening them up even though it wasn’t raining, which was dangerous. It’s a road with car traffic, so if they were to mess around and dart into the street, it could be disastrous.
In fact, just yesterday, there was a traffic accident right in front of our house. A car crashed into a guardrail, completely wrecking both the car and the guardrail. Thankfully, it seems there were no injuries or fatalities, but since it happened right in front of our house, it’s a place my sons and I pass by almost every day. The thought of what could have happened if we’d been waiting at the signal next to that guardrail… it sends chills down my spine.
The loud crash of the collision and the incessant beeping warning sound coming from the car afterward are still stuck in my head.
Perhaps because of that, I was especially on edge this morning every time a car passed by on the school route. But the two boys, oblivious to my feelings, kept swinging their umbrellas, straying from the line, and completely ignoring my warnings. They’d glance at me briefly and then go right back to doing the same thing. Their behavior really got under my skin…
What made me even more upset was that one of the boys’ fathers, who seemed to be on duty too, was there but just walked absentmindedly at the back of the line without saying a word to them. (Meanwhile, my younger son, who doesn’t seem to get along with those two, walked briskly at the front of the line without looking back.)
After the duty, I returned home briefly, then walked to the next station.
I used up my energy for STEPN GO and SuperWalk, and just as I was about to turn back, I spotted a Doutor and couldn’t resist stopping in.
In the afternoon, it was time for my younger son’s swimming lesson. He wanted to take the bus, but there wasn’t one at a convenient time, so we walked again. The cool afternoon walk felt great, and I felt like I could walk forever. If only the weather were like this all the time.
At the plaza in front of the station, the fountain was open. Every year around this season, this park’s fountain starts spraying water for kids to play in. But today, it must have been too cool for water play—no one was there.
By the time I got home, I was completely exhausted… I’ll probably sleep soundly tonight.

Best regards.
Thanks. I sleep well when I walk well.
I am not sure if I should go to bed today or if I should write one article and then go to bed😇😇
I will wait for your publication for the next day. Best regards.

Nice step count and cool post! In Europe it's mostly hot as well so when I don't have to work I go out to sport early in the morning, before it's too hot.
Thanks!
I too would love to do some early morning walking, but to tell you the truth, I have failed many times. I just end up falling asleep twice...😅
