A Walk in Downtown Brescia – Piazza Arnaldo

This afternoon, I decided to take a moment just for myself and go for a walk in downtown Brescia. The air was warm but not stifling, with that light breeze that occasionally brushes your face and makes you appreciate even more the joy of wandering aimlessly. I headed down toward Piazza Arnaldo, one of my favorite places, because it always gives me that feeling of life, movement, but also peace.

As soon as I arrived, I paused for a moment to look around: groups of friends sitting at tables, a few curious tourists with cameras in hand, and that lively atmosphere — never too chaotic. I love how the square changes character throughout the day: during daylight it’s a relaxed spot to sip a coffee, while in the evening it comes alive with lights, chatter, and aperitifs.

I walked slowly along the portico, looking at shop windows, breathing in the scents from the bars and the venues already getting ready for the evening crowd. I sat down on a bench for a few minutes, enjoying the sun and watching people go by. It’s in those moments that I realize how much I love this city — its details, its stones that whisper ancient stories.

Before heading back home, I treated myself to an artisanal gelato – strawberry and pistachio, as always – and kept strolling, unhurried. Brescia has its own unique way of making you feel cared for, and Piazza Arnaldo is one of its warmest embraces.
