Reminder for being grateful to the Almighty: 04 | A patient with chest pain
He was the last patient for today; a 49-year-old Omani man. He was having chest discomfort for the last 2-3 days. It was more like a feeling of pressure on this central chest area than obvious pain. There were no other symptoms like fever, cold and cough, nausea and vomiting, sweating etc.
I did one ECG. The ECG finding was in suspicion of myocardial infarction aka heart attack. It was not clear cut. He needed to do the cardiac marker or enzyme tests that were not available in my clinic. I talked with the regional hospital emergency doctor and he advised me to refer the patient. I was able to convince the patient to go to the regional hospital.
Cardiovascular Disease is the most common cause of death worldwide. Even though a patient survives the initial stages, he or she needs lifelong treatment. Alhamdulillah, I haven't faced any of such issues yet. It is indeed a reminder of being grateful to Allah.
I got another 10k plus steps today. But, today no walk on the treadmill.
