Story of a suspected COVID19 patient!
Yesterday one 55-year-old Omani lady was brought to our clinic by his son and two other relatives. She was having a severe cough and chest pain for the last two days (according to the son). The day before yesterday, they went to a government health centre. From there, oral antibiotics and other oral medicines were given. They weren't satisfied with those treatments and decided to visit a private health centre. According to her son, every year during the winter season she uses to have similar problems. He brought her to us to get an intravenous augmentin injection (an antibiotic).
On the examination, her blood oxygen saturation was 90% only!! The temperature was 39°C, quite high. There were abnormal sounds in her chest auscultation by a stethoscope. So, I told them to do some investigations such as chest X-ray, CBC, CRP and PCR test for COVID19. The son agreed to do the test other than the PCR test.
There were features of pneumonia in the chest X-ray. CBC and CRP also showed a high level of infection. Moreover, following the X-ray, after a short walk, she became distressed with breathing difficulty. We gave oxygen by face mask and gave other management along with injections. Later, the son agreed to do the PCR test as well. The report will be available tomorrow In Sha Allah.
I gave some oral medications and they left.
This is all for now. I am alive, healthy and treating patients in my chamber, Alhamdulillah. How about you?
