My Actifit Report Card: May 9 2025
In 2019, 83,276 people fell victim to bacterial infections. Only 802 received the right medicine! Such incidents are happening in 8 countries, including Bangladesh. Countries have less than 7% of the antibiotics they need. Most patients are not getting the right medicine. Those who are getting it are not completing the course. Bacteria are becoming drug-resistant at an alarming rate.
26,200 patients died in Bangladesh in 2019 due to antibiotic resistance alone. Even though they were given medicine, they did not recover. The highest drug disparities are seen in pneumonia, blood and urinary tract infections. If this continues, there is a risk of 40 million deaths in 8 countries by 2050, according to researchers. Explanation: Science-loving.
