Kakapo parrots live, like humans, for 90-100 years. Parrots have the longest life expectancy among bird species in the world. According to the website ‘Quora’, Kakapo and Macaw parrots are the longest-living birds in the world. The homeland of the parrot Kakapo, or owl parrot, is considered New Zealand, where they have lived for several thousand years. A unique feature of these birds is their complete inability to fly. The New Zealand archipelago is dotted with numerous rainforests. The name of their way of life is fully justified by the name, translated from the Maori language, the indigenous language of these places, “Kakapo” means “a parrot of darkness”. These birds prefer a completely nocturnal lifestyle: during the day they hide in the bushes and trees, and at night they go on long journeys in search of food or mating. The birds are very heavy in weight and strong, one parrot is able to walk a fairly decent number of kilometers at a time. There are 125 of these parrots living around the world. Description and characteristics

The Kakapo parrot is a large bird with a specific high-pitched voice, similar to the braying of a pig or the braying of a donkey. The owl parrot practically does not use its wings throughout its life, except for the possibility of landing on the ground from trees.

The basis of the Kakapo diet is the roe or dacrydium, the fruit of a tree common in New Zealand. In addition, they consume seeds, bark, leaves, pollen, stems, fruits, bulbs and roots. A characteristic pattern of fruit absorption is observed. Parrots suck out the useful elements, after which only a ball of fibers remains on the plant.
