Boom Goes The Dynamite! The NFL is Shook!

Well a bombshell has just dropped on NFL free agency. I honestly don't even know how far the shock waves will reach. But things just got very complicated.

I'm going to the Ravens! Ummmmm no you're not.

In possibly the biggest move of the off season... which doesn't even really start until tomorrow the Baltimore Ravens acquired Maxx Crosby (yes he has two "x's" because he's just that cool) from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for two number 1 draft picks. That is a huge haul for a 29 year old pass rusher with a ton of miles on his body.

Well it turns out those miles might have been a little rougher than previously thought. in a shocking move, the Baltimore ravens just canceled the trade. It seems Maxx Crosby failed the pre-trade physical that is required before a trade can be completed. Although they have not revealed details, Crosby played all of last season with a torn meniscus in his knee. The crazy man that he is just played through the pain until the Raiders finally forced him to sit out the last two games. Dang that man is tough! Although we are not sure if it is that knee or just the fact the guy plays like a man on fire every down and probably has a ton of damage to his body, clearly the problem was big enough to cause the Ravens to back out.

OK. So what? The Ravens get their picks back and Crosby is back on the Raiders. But here is where it gets complicated.

After believing they had cleared about $31 million off of their salary cap, the Raiders went shopping. They VERBALLY agreed to contracts with: Linebacker Quay Walker, Linebacker Nakobe Dean, Edge rusher Kwitty Paye, Edge Rusher Malcolm Koonce and corner back Eric Stokes. Oh and they also made Tyler Linderbaum the highest paid center in NFL history by offering him a three year $81 million contract.

Uh oh. With Crosby's $31 back on the books, the Raiders can't sign all of those guys. This is an unmitigated disaster. Not only do the Raiders not get the two first round picks, but now the whole league knows Crosby is damaged goods. This is also terrible for all the free agents they had promised to sign. Those free agents 'came off the market" and other teams that may have been interested spent their money elsewhere. It will most likely cost those guys quite a bit of money even though they did nothing wrong. Good luck getting a free agent to trust the Raiders any time soon. But to be honest they were foolish to trust any organize that involves that slime ball Tom Brady. If you are wondering why I would call Brady a slime ball, just Google Alex Guererro, Brady's personal "body coach" and scumbag who lied to sick people and told them his product could cure cancer. Brady brought this quack to the Raiders last year. I guess his mystical medicine couldn't cure Crosby... but anyway.

Back to the NFL. This utter fuck up is going to cause a ton of problems for the rest of free agency. I don't know if your favorite team was impacted, but we will find out in the coming weeks exactly what dominoes fall after this one. Although it is possible that the Ravens will just offer less compensation and the deal still goes through. Either way, what a mess.

I'm not an expert on the free agency market, but the Raiders can't just go around spending money like that without having finalized the Crosby trade. Or maybe that was their rush to trade him, knowing he had a problem with his knee. It will undoubtedly have a significant impact because the medical exams need to be thorough, and at the same time, a deal always needs to be closed before moving on to the next one. Let's hope it doesn't affect him too much, but without a doubt, the player's value has decreased considerably. At best, he might now be worth second-round draft picks, or even a first-round pick, but we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah I am thinking he will still get traded but the Raiders will have to take a lot less for him.

Of course, they might have to accept a second-round pick because that salary cap space is good for registering more players.

It's truly a disaster for the Raiders, but they should have waited until the trade was complete before spending money on new players who are now in limbo, unsure of their future. The same goes for Maxx Crosby, whose worst part, as mentioned, is that all the other teams are aware of his situation and won't offer much for him if a trade is made.

I have a lot of respect for Maxx Crosby though. Playing an entire season with a torn meniscus shows how tough he really is. Not many players would push through that kind of pain. At the same time, I can understand why the Ravens would be cautious. Giving up two first round picks is a massive investment, and if there are long term health concerns it makes sense for them to step back.

A player who continues to play for his team despite physical pain or mental stress does not love money. He plays only for his team. He is happy when the team wins because human emotions are attached to every game

That's horrible. I do feel bad for the other players that were promised a deal. I have never been a Tom Brady fan, but I have other reasons for that! :)

I bet he will still get seat but now way the Raiders are getting 2 firsts anymore. Every once in a while I ease up on Brady and then I remember what a bad person he is.

The fact that Max Crosby's trade was canceled at the last minute due to a failed physical exam is a big deal. As a result, the Raiders' salary cap plans are completely thrown into disarray.

Most of the players today are playing only for more money, be it football, cricket or hockey, they play only for their own meaning and purpose. When they get more money, they give better performances and they don't care about the love of the people at all because whether it is cricket or any other sport, people love it a lot. Only a player who knows that emotions are involved in the game will succeed.

It was a high price to pay, two first-round picks for a very good player with physical issues. But what I don't understand is why the Raiders make deals with players knowing they're trading in a player with problems. The first step should have been to make the trade and then make the necessary arrangements, because it's a good amount of salary cap space to free up, 31 million. So, we'll have to wait and see if it gets resolved in the best way for everyone, although the Raiders certainly won't get what they were asking for, but much less.
