Step 1 would be to build a time machine, go back to last year's trade deadline and deal Derozan, Lavine and Vucevic. And definitely don't resign Patrick Williams to a $90 million deal when literally no one else in the league had any interest in him.

Until I get that time machine built, I'd start by trading any player they possibly can except for Giddey, White and Buzelis. Sadly I have no idea how they are going to be able to get out from under the Lonzo Ball and Patrick Williams extensions. The Bulls are in the exact same predicament they were in before they lucked into Rose, they have a bunch of solid guys but not a single star who changes a game. They need that desperately and sadly the only way they can get that is by winning the lottery. If they can somehow draft or trade for a legit star, one move I'd make would be exploring signing John Collins from Utah. He is definitely not a star but they need size. If they could get him and a rim protecting center while dumping a lot of their redundant pieces, they would have a chance at the 6th seed... and a first round playoff exit. I'd also fire Billy Donovan immediately. He's had Vuc for 4 years and has not figured out how to use him properly. He let Derozan run the team for 3 years. And there is zero evidence he can win in the NBA playoffs without Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russel Westbrook.
