It was German against French as the two countries' power house crossed blades in this year's Champions League final. During the 90 minutes, only a single goal was recorded, and it came from the German side. Thus, it was the crushed Frenchmen who ended up failing after a 0-1 defeat.

The first half otherwise offered fine chances for both teams. After 18 minutes of play, PSG's Neymar had the biggest chance of the half when Mbappe found him with a neat pass. The only thing that prevented Neymar from scoring the first goal of the match was an excellent leg parade by Manuel Neuer in the German goal. Later in the half, it was Lewandowski who got his header parried by Keylor Navas at the other end of the field.

The this half ended goaless. However, barely a quarter of an hour into the second half, the evening's only sharp shot came from Bayern Munich's right back Joshua Kimmich who hit a sugar ball into the field, where the Frenchman Kingsley Coman did evil to his countrymen. Coman, who was brought up in PSG's youth department, headed the ball into goal without a chance for PSG goalkeeper Navas.

The French champions, PSG, never managed to respond back to the goal scored, and thus the match ended 1-0 to Bayern Munich. It is the first time since the 2012/13 season that Bayern Munich wins the Champions League
