The goalkeeper position at Liverpool has been occupied solely by Brazilian Alisson for the past two seasons, and in the future it could very well also end up being a Brazilian who has to guard the cage for the Merseyside club.

They have today confirmed the purchase of the mere 17-year-old goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga from Fluminense. On the club's website, it reads as follows from Liverpool's goalkeeping coach:

We will try to develop him. He is still young and there is no pressure on him. There is still a long way to go for him and we will not put any pressure on him because there is still a lot to learn, says Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg to the club's website.

The young goalkeeper attracted special attention for several European clubs when he helped win the U-17 World Cup with Brazil back in November last year.

According to the plan, Pitaluga will train with around the first team, but at the same time play matches on the club's academy team.
