After Blaise Matuidi left Juventus, head coach Andrea Pirlo now wants to get rid of Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira. They are simply not part of Pirlo's plans for next season.

The two veterans have played different roles in the past season with the champions. Where Higuain featured in 32 games, Khedira was not so good. In an injury-plagued season, he reached just 12 games.

Almost nine days ago, the world was introduced to Andrea Pirlo as the new boss in the coaching seat of the champions, who after the surprising exit from the Champions League fired Maurizio Sarri. It is the former Juventus star's first big coaching job, and he is now making his mark.

Both players have been told they are free to find new clubs. Probably not an optimal situation for Khedira, who ended the season with an injury. Higuain has previously been rumored to making a permanent switch to his boyhood club, River Plate - back home in Argentina.

It will be exciting to see what new names Pirlo will bring in. Now he has seriously set in motion a clean-up of the squad.
