Harry Kane is considered one of the world's best attackers. He is the captain of the English national team and has been Tottenham's top scorer and talisman for several seasons in a row. However, it is far from certain that he would have been at the club at all had it not been for former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood. In the 'Squeaky Bum Time Podcast' podcast, 51-year-old Sherwood says Tottenham was close to selling Kane.

They wanted to get rid of Harry Kane. Maybe because he had been loaned out a few times, says Tim Sherwood.

Tim Sherwood only managed to be manager of the London club for half a season. Despite his brief period at the head of the club, he believes he is to blame for the team's biggest star still to be found at Spurs.

I don't think Harry Kane would be in Tottenham if I hadn't been manager at the club, Tim Sherwood says.

Undoubtedly, there are a great many Tottenham supporters who are well pleased that Kane is still playing in the club. However, not many people had much faith in him back in 2013.

There were many people around the club at the time who thought he would not become a Premier League player, Sherwood said.

Tim Sherwood was manager at Tottenham during the latter half of the 13/14 season, with Harry Kane getting his first full Premier League match. The following season, he becomes second on the top scorer list with 21 goals.
