RE: Maintenance required on my bicycle || Mantenimiento necesario a mi bicicleta

Hello @aaalviarez - I enjoyed reading the English version of your post because I used to ride a bike a lot.

In the Spanish version you wrote,

Juan detectó que las municiones estaban partidas

And you translated it like this:

Juan detected that the ammunition was split

I immediately understood what you intended, but while the word "municiones" can mean "ammunition" (or "munitions") in English, in this context you should write "ball bearing."

As for the metal parts that contained ball bearings, I would call the whole thing a "sprocket," but I'm not a mechanic or an expert when it comes to machinery, so I looked it up and discovered that it is called a "ball bearing sprocket," and the circular parts might be called "races."

Wikipedia has a whole page on "ball bearings" and uses terms such as "races" to describe the circular metal parts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_bearing

All very enjoyable!

I'm now following you on Hive! 😊

Yes, you are probably right. Translating sometimes changes the meaning, and more so in technical languages of each area, such as cycling. Thanks for this research, I appreciate it very much. I will keep it in mind as I continue to post here. Regards @hirohurl
