RE: my cycling evolution

That's a cool bike you have there! There are always beter, faster and lighter bikes, but are they really worth it? I was also looking into a carbon road bike, but I think the few gramms of weight don't weigh up against the price of such a bike.
I also like the brightly coloured folding bikes. They look quite funny with the enormous seatposts 😀

thats true, and also they are hardly repairable; if you get a crash and carbon frame gets cracked, no repair is possible, all you can do is throw out the expensive frame and make a new investment... but! We're not talking about grams, of course. I won’t see the difference between a 12000 gram bike and a 12050 gram bike... but I will see the difference between a 10-11 kg bike and a 13 kg bike - and this difference is sufficient and, of course, its worth the money they demand for it. Such a solid amount is not 'excessive' in one's budget... that’s why I put it in my post this way: “if a wallet of money will fall on me from the sky ...” ;)

For most people it will be cheaper to loose 3 kilograms of body weight instead of buying a lighter bicycle. But if you would have the money for it, why not 😀

haha! mate, imagine, I live in apartment on the 5th floor. the buiding has no lift / elevator. and due to thievery problems / weather conditions / etc I cant simply leave bike on the street. (and I already dont have said excess of 3 kg). in this case, having 10kg bike and having 13 kg bike is very... different user cases, lol.
also, excessively heavy bike is a very noticeable problem when it comes to kids, pre-teenagers. their bikes should be as much lighter as possible. right?

I didn't think of that. 3 kilo's can be quite a lot then...
