Los valores del deporte
Recuerdo ese año 1968, cuando tenía apenas 12 años de edad, el equipo rival de mi querido Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, es decir Estudiantes de La Plata, jugaba y ganaba la copa Libertadores y luego la copa intercontinental en una épica final empatando 1 a 1 con el Manchester United de visitante en el mítico Old Trafford luego de haberse impuesto en su estadio en el partido de ida por 1 a 0. Por aquellos años esa era la máxima aspiración a nivel de clubes, antes que crearan el mundial de clubes.
Por supuesto y pese a que era nuestro rival de la ciudad y de toda la vida, me alegré por ese triunfo, mi madre es simpatizante de Estudiantes y además era un equipo argentino que volvía a ganar un título intercontinental en tan solo 2 años, luego del recordado triunfo de Racing Club de Avellaneda ante el Celtic de Glasgow.
En aquel momento y gracias a una seguidilla de títulos todo era algarabía, patriotismo y heroísmo, salvo lo de la alegría el resto estuvo exacerbado y tan solo un año después aquel equipo descendió de la gloria del cielo a las profundidades más oscuras, tenebrosas e infames del infierno. Estudiantes volvió a ganar la copa América lo que lo clasificaba para una nueva disputa de la copa intercontinental, esta vez sería contra el Milan de Italia, campeón de Europa. En el encuentro de ida los italianos golearon 3 a 0 y en la vuelta, disputada en el estadio del Club Atlético Boca Juniors, luego de un tanto italiano que aseguraba el título, se desató una incompresible actitud de los jugadores de Estudiantes, golpes, expulsiones, jugadores italianos sangrando. Todo por un encuentro de fútbol, importante por supuesto pero que jamás podría justificar lo desmedido y violento.
Después de aquello y pese a volver a ganar la copa Libertadores (en aquellos años el campeón de la edición anterior entraba a jugar solo en semifinales) volvió jugar la intercontinental, en esta oportunidad con el Feyenoord de Países Bajos, perdiendo otra vez, aunque en esta oportunidad no de forma vergonzosa.
Debido a esos desagradables acontecimientos, quizás injustamente, a todos los equipos de Argentina se les tildó de violentos y costó muchos años limpiar esa mancha. Recién en la época de José Pekerman al comando de los seleccionados juveniles y gracias al premio fair play que esas selecciones ganaron en repetidas oportunidades, la tendencia comenzó a cambiar.
Hace tan solo un par de días un acontecimiento pasó desapercibido para muchos quizás por ser un torneo considerado menor en la miríada de campeonatos de fútbol que se desarrollan regularmente en todo el mundo, me refiero al Torneo Sudamericano Juvenil Sub 17 de futsal que se desarrolla en estos momentos en Asunción, capital del Paraguay. En ese ámbito, en medio de un partido en que Argentina ganaba cómodamente por 5 a 0 sobre Uruguay, los ánimos, principalmente de los jugadores uruguayos, estaban muy alterados y comenzaban a aparecer fuertes cruces, tanto verbales como físicos, la confrontación más allá de lo deportivo se presentía obra y gracia de la impotencia y la superioridad manifiesta del conjunto albiceleste sobre el uruguayo, algo por supuesto circunstancial ya que lo mismo pudo haber ocurrido a la inversa.
En ese contexto el director técnico de Argentina solicitó un minuto para hablar con sus dirigidos, les ordenó que cesara cualquier acción que pudiera interpretarse como una burla o arrogancia hacia los rivales. Les dijo que en el fútbol debe haber respeto por todos los competidores y la mejor forma de hacerlo era continuar el juego dando lo mejor de sí para ganar de la mejor forma posible, les dijo que esos son los valores de la selección nacional.
A partir de ese momento los ánimos volvieron a los normales dentro de un encuentro de gran rivalidad como existe y ha existido siempre entre ambos países.
El técnico que dio ese discurso se llama Santiago Basile, y fue campeón mundial de futsal en el año 2016 representando a la Argentina en el torneo disputado en Colombia derrotando en la final a Rusia por 5 a 4. Ese título dio por terminada la hegemonía de Brasil y España en la categoría.
Un ejemplo para resaltar e imitar, para recordar cuales son los verdaderos valores del deporte.

Just a couple of days ago, an event went unnoticed by many, perhaps because it was considered a minor tournament in the myriad of soccer championships that take place regularly around the world. I am referring to the South American Youth Sub 17 Futsal Tournament that takes place in these moments in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. Así como en diversas oportunidades nos quejamos de malas actitudes, trampas, obtención de ventaja deportiva por uso de drogas y sustancias prohibidas, de la misma forma estamos obligados a destacar los buenos comportamientos y ejemplos.

Definitivamente, el futbol sudamericano es hermoso e intenso. Pero nada justifica los comportamientos antideportivos. Lo que hizo el técnico es muestra de liderazgo y quizás evitó males mayores. Gracias por compartir tu opinión al respecto con nosotros, también por los datos interesantes de la participación de los equipos Argentinos en Copas Intercontinentales.
Este hombre sabe infundir tranquilidad en sus jugadores , me parece que usa las palabras apropiadas , la tolerancia es algo que siempre genera buena energía
