Mundial Sub-20 comienza ya! (SPA - ENG)
Me cuesta comprender las razones por las cuales estos mundiales del fútbol para jugadores juveniles de hasta 20 años de edad no despiertan más expectativa, más simpatía entre los aficionados de todo el mundo.
Este campeonato mundial organizado por la FIFA que se juega cada 2 años, tuvo su primera versión en el año 1977 y desde ese momento hasta ahora solo tuvo una interrupción en su cronograma, fue en el año 2021 y debido a la pandemia de Covid.
Tan poco atrae al público que en diversas oportunidades he visto encuentros con los estadios absolutamente vacíos y me ha costado encontrar en los diarios las noticias sobre los resultados, el fixture y el avance. Si generalmente se le da trascendencia a la final, allí se despiertan y todos nos enteramos de quienes son los mejores en esa oportunidad.
Si no recurriéramos a los buscadores pocos podrían contestar sin equivocarse que países y cuantas son los que más copas del mundo Sub 20 poseen. Se los voy a decir ahora y muchos se sorprenderán: Argentina es el más ganador en la historia de este torneo con 6 copas del mundo, seguido por Brasil con 5.
Lo que no sorprende son los nombres de los países con esos récords, probablemente son los que más aportan a las grandes ligas de Europa, no olvidemos que entre ambos tienen 8 copas del mundo de mayores y 11 de juveniles Sub-20, en esta categoría duplican la cantidad de títulos que tienen entre todos los países de Europa, llamativo.
Evidentemente no es casualidad, solo es consecuencia de la buena predisposición de ambos pueblos para la práctica de este deporte, de la genética quizás o de la pasión que les motiva; no puedo hablar demasiado de la organización de torneos juveniles porque no conozco como se lo lleva en Brasil, si se algo de Argentina y si bien en este país no somos un dechado de virtudes organizativas ni planificadas, hemos tenido la enorme fortuna de contar con una persona que cambió el rumbo del fútbol juvenil en cuanto a la selección, su forma de enfrentar el crecimiento futbolístico de los jóvenes, la modalidad de juego y la construcción grupal, se llama José Néstor Pekerman y durante su permanencia como DT la selección juvenil logró tres títulos mundiales.
De esas selecciones surgieron Maradona quien logró el título mundial en 1979 en Japón y a quien le otorgaron el balón de oro, siendo Ramón Díaz el goleador y Lionel Messi quien se coronó en Países Bajos en 2005 llevándose además los premios a mejor jugador y goleador. Un dato curioso es que Argentina ganó uno de sus 6 títulos juveniles Sub-20 en Qatar, parece que ese país le cae de maravillas a la celeste y blanca.
Mañana comienza el torneo que Argentina organizó a las apuradas debido a la quita de la sede y la organización que la FIFA impuso como castigo a Indonesia por sus actitudes contra Israel, país clasificado para disputar la copa.
Ya he hablado de esto en otra publicación anterior pero es bueno recordar que Argentina pese a todos sus pergaminos en la categoría, ingresa a este torneo gracias a los escritorios y no a su fútbol, había sido eliminada en el Sudamericano clasificatorio disputado el año anterior pero al ser país anfitrión obtuvo el derecho a participar.
El DT Javier Mascherano, histórico capital de la selección nacional de mayores fue confirmado en el cargo pese al fracaso en la gestión mencionada, para poder contar con 10 jugadores juveniles que militan en importantes clubes de Europa debió viajar personalmente para realizar las gestiones tendientes a convencer a los directivos de los equipos donde juegan, cierto éxito obtuvo y varias de esas jóvenes promesas estarán presentes mañana cuando Argentina haga su debut ante Uzbekistán en el estadio Madre de Ciudades en la norteña provincia de Santiago del Estero.
Por el continente americano participan además del anfitrión, Ecuador, Guatemala, Estados Unidos, Colombia, República Dominicana, Honduras, Uruguay y por supuesto el gran favorito Brasil.
¿Podrá Brasil igualar a la Argentina en cantidad de títulos? ¿Podrá Argentina repetir el título obtenido como local en el 2001? ¿se impondrá otro país americano o europeo? ¿Qué ocurrirá con los representantes de Asia y África?
Lo sabremos en menos de un mes y por supuesto estaré comentando esta nueva aventura futbolística tratando de aportar mi granito de arena para que el futbol juvenil pueda lograr una mayor importancia en el concierto mundial.

Obviously, it is not by chance, it is only a consequence of the willingness of both people to practice this sport, perhaps genetics or the passion that motivates them; I cannot speak too much about the organization of youth tournaments because I do not know how it is carried out in Brazil, I do know something about Argentina and although in this country we are not a paragon of organizational or planned virtues, we have been enormously fortunate to have a José Néstor Pekerman, the person who changed the course of youth soccer in terms of the national team, his way of dealing with the growth of youth soccer, the game modality, and the group construction, and during his tenure as manager, the youth team achieved three world titles.

Llama mucho la atención que este tipo de torneos juveniles no tenga ese peso mediático que de verdad merece.
De verdad tuve un solo mundial sub 20 que pude ver de principio a fin, y ese fue el de Corea del Sur en el año 2017, cuando mi país (Venezuela) llegó a la final del mundo ante Inglaterra.
Este año sí me interesa mucho más por el país en el que se va a disputar dicho evento y porque habrán jugadores muy interesantes en los diferentes equipos. Aquí es donde se ven las futuras figuras de este Deporte.
