Este titular lo hemos visto muchas veces en los medios gráficos especializados en el deporte, debo reconocer que una buena proporción se ha convertido en realidad, aunque también hubo casos resonantes donde diversos factores provocaron que el augurio pasara a ser un desatino y tildado de apresurado o mal diagnosticado.
Los éxitos no solamente dependen de la predisposición y el talento del deportista, juegan muchos otros factores como su salud, su dedicación, el entrenador y asesores y también su simpatía y empatía que, aunque parezcan lo mismo son actitudes diferentes frente a las demás personas. Con esto quiero decir que un deportista puede ser muy bueno en su deporte, pero en ocasiones su carácter, su destrato, su falta de empatía y simpatía lo llevan por un camino donde el triunfo se hace más difícil y lo pueden llevar al fracaso.
Respecto a la salud y la dedicación huelgan las palabras, no son raros los casos de deportistas que pudieron ser brillantes y una lesión o un accidente truncan esa posibilidad, también hay casos resonantes de posibles e inclusivo consumadas estrellas del deporte que, por falta de dedicación, por entregarse a los placeres que la fama y el dinero les otorgan, tiran sus carreras por el retrete.

Cuentas que en su infancia debieron prohibirle competir en los torneos de su club el Greystone Golf & Country Club en Birmingham, Alabama dado que los socios se quejaban que no podían ganar torneos, siempre ganaba Nick y solo era un recién ingresado a la edad de la adolescencia.
