Un Equipo Es Más Fuerte Que Una Sola Estrella / A Team Is Stronger Than A Single Star [ESP-ENG]

It's time to talk about NBA, and last night we had the opportunity to witness a very attractive duel for fans of the sport of heights. Boston Celtics took on Dallas Mavericks as visitors, led by probably the best player in the league right now, of course I'm talking about the Slovenian Luka Doncic.

The Mavs led by the former point guard of this team, Jason Kidd, came to this game with 7 consecutive wins and with the young wonder in his best moment since he landed in the NBA. Doncic was averaging 36.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 9.7 assists per game in the last 10 games before this one. Absolutely ridiculous numbers compared to other players in the biggest basketball league in the world.

On the other side came the Boston Celtics in this long tour of the West. The proud greens come from losing to Denver and from falling scandalously against the Thunder in Oklahoma by a score of 150-117, one of the worst beatings received in the history of this great franchise. And the worst part of the matter is not that, but that the Thunder is a team for the future, a team that is coming in "tanking" practically, by "tanking" I mean they are coming in at the bottom of the standings to get lower round picks and thus continue with the rebuilding project. For a team that is in the midst of development to lay one of the 3 worst beatings in franchise history on you is something to think about.

Boston came from winning just 5 of the last 12 games, falling into a small slump and into the bad habits of previous seasons. They showed again that disconnection in the offense, those good associations they had been showing were left behind and ended up falling in those 1vs1 that are not healthy at all in a team that is obliged to reach the finals again and get that coveted ring number 18 that has eluded them since 2008.

Although the Boston Greens are going through a bad moment, the great first third of the season they have had allowed them to keep the first place in the Eastern Conference and to be the best record in the NBA at this point.

Getting right into the game, the Proud Greens came out all guns blazing from the first minute of the game. Celtics star Jayson Tatum (MVP candidate along with Luka Doncic) started a little erratic with his shots from the field, especially in the first half, but immediately realized this and took care of distributing the ball and generating the spaces by attacking the rim so they could double-team him to leave one or another teammate free. In the first quarter of the game, the Celtics came out winning the partial by 29-20, with an excellent performance from the second unit with Brogdom, Sam Hauser and Grant Williams, thus putting a contribution of 18-0 in favor of the bench of the proud green, thus demonstrating that it has one of the best second units in the NBA.

In the second quarter it was time for the Celtics to take off and perform well on the Dallas backboard. The game began to be much more fluid, they began to move the ball well to always look for the free man and without selfishness. One of the virtues of this team, is to generate those spaces from the perimeter with entries to the hoop, either Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown, the best duo in the league generates that they go to double score and this opens an infinite range of opportunities for those who are stationed outside on the 3-point line. Smart, Grant Williams and Al Horford took advantage of this tactic to take full advantage and go to the break with an 18-point lead, hinting that the second half would be very long for the home team.

In the second half it was more of the same, the Mavs at some point cut the gap to 12 points, but the Celtics were able to lower their spirits and continue with their overwhelming pace with the help of Jayson Tatum who began to be more accurate with the attack to the hoop. Luka Doncic was never comfortable and needed the support of his teammates, but Luka does not have in his team role players who are always in tune, only Tim Hardaway Jr. contributes something but he is very inconsistent, and if he is the one who accompanies him, the others do not step up. Instead on the other side, Jayson Tatum has the support of Brown who averages over 27 points per game, Marcus Smart who was voted the best defender of the year last season, Malcolm Brogdom who will probably be the best sixth man of the season, and who's addition to the team is among the best of the season (obviously taking out the signing of Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers). So that makes hand-to-hand, the gap gets much longer between the two teams.

The game ended with a wide score of 95-124 in favor of the Boston Celtics. The undisputed star of the game was Jayson Tatum, who had a Triple Double of 29 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. In addition, the Celtics finished with 6 players above 10 points, an extremely interesting statistic.

With this victory, the Celtics keep the first place in the Eastern Conference with a slight difference of a game and a half over the Brooklyn Nets. Jayson Tatum yesterday gave a performance worthy of an NBA MVP and on top of that against Luka Doncic another strong contender for the fight for the best player of the season. The next game of the Green Pride will be against the San Antonio Spurs, in what will be the last game of this tour of the West.

With nothing more to say, we have reached the end of this post dedicated to my NBA team, the Boston Celtics. Thanks for joining me and see you next time!
