(Edited)

Today is the end of holidays break for the Ligue 1, French top teams are back to the pitch tonight.
Let’s have a recap about what happened during the first half of the season.
After 17 playdays over 38 in total – Marseille have played 15 only so far because of reports – rankings look like this:

First thing you’ll notice is Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) being 3rd despite having the biggest yearly budget (by far with EUR 365+M over the 2nd Lyon). The same PSG who reached Champion’s League final last year, who has also won 7 over the last 8 Ligue 1 titles, who usually finish first with 10+ points more than the runner-up, etc.
No club is unbeaten since Playday 10 with Lille losing in Brest’s stadium (Brest 3 -2 Lille).
Top 3 has escaped a bit from the pack, you might include Marseille who is 5th with 2 games to be played.
Regarding the current form, Lyon, Lille and Rennes are unstoppable with 4 wins over the 5 last games.
I would even say that Lyon is the team to watch recently as they are literally on fire. Lyon was 14th after 6 games and a W/D/L record of 1/4/1 !
Just for information, the 2020-2021 budget per club rankings:

No big surprise if you compare budgets and positions in the league, 6 biggest budgets are trusting 6 first positions, not in the same order though.
Big up to Brest who is placed 11th with the lowest budget of the league !
Before to conclude with the coming games, here is the top scorers ranking:

No surprise here with Kylian ‘Wonderkid’ Mbappe leading with 12 goals in 13 games (0.92 goal/game) and 2 goals in front of the second-best scorer (Boulaye Dia for Reims with 10 goals).

Coming games on Wednesday 6th:
Nantes – Rennes
Lorient – Monaco
Metz – Bordeaux
Brest – Nice
Strasbourg – Nimes
Lyon – Lens
Lille – Angers
Saint-Etienne – PSG
Marseille – Montpellier
Reims – Dijon
