Happy New Year everyone, welcome to my first post of the year, so today I will talk about something I noticed about clubs releasing African players to play for their nation in the African Nations cup.

The AFCON(Africa Cup Of Nation) is around the corner and there have been some issues with some clubs releasing African players to participate in the competition.

Napoli refused to let Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian International travel back home to play for his country. Honestly, I feel these clubs are disrespecting AFCON. There has also been a claim Victor Osimhen has been affected by the covid-19 and would be best if he does not participate in the AFCON.

This isn't fair at all and needs to be addressed. Players from European countries are allowed to go and participate for their country, why are African players not given that privilege?

We saw clubs releasing players for the Euros 2020, even when they were at risk of getting the covid-19 virus, so why is it then so hard to let African players participate in their tournament.

To be frank, I am not happy with this approach against the AFCON. I feel Africans have been insulted by the decision of some managers and clubs. Watford also refuses to let Dennis Emmanuel leave to participate in the tournament.

I love European football, but with this move, I am beginning to lose respect. Football should bring us together, not separate. I hope things change soon, African competition is also important.

Happy New Year once again, Stay blessed everyone, have a wonderful year.

This is such a disturbing issue and shows a lack of respect for the players even. So, these clubs won't mind benefiting from these players, but don't have the respect to let them represent their countries.

Am pissed about it, they treat AFCON like it's nothing. It just shows they have little respect for Africa.

Unfortunately while AFCON remains in the middle of the European football season this will always be a problem with Covid just being the latest excuse that clubs and players have come up with.

At the end of the day money talks. Just look at the number of players who withdraw from the top European nations games that occur midseason.

It really isn't the best time for AFCON, with the world cup coming up, they had no choice but to begin the tournament. I just fell AFCON has always been looked down on and it just not fair.
