Argentina Are Through To The Knockout Stage After Beating Poland 2-0 In Their Final Group Stage Match

Source

Hello football lovers, what a night it was in group C in the world cup the group comprises Argentina, Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. It was one of the best nights for me and millions of Argentina and Messi supporters all over the world. Before the match, I gave my review in my previous post explaining how the Argentinean squad has what it takes to beat Poland and qualify for the knockout stage in the world cup.

I knew and trusted the Argentina squad that they could beat Poland, even my senior brother doubted me and said, Lewandoski, will shatter Argentina's dreams last night but look how it turned out. Argentina should have won their match against Saudi Arabia in the opening match their only mistake was to underestimate Saudi Arabia and it cost them 3 points.

After the loss, I still had faith that Argentina would qualify and Messi would make it happen in their second match which was against Mexico, Argentina won by 2 goals which Messi scored and assisted in that match. Going into the match against Poland last night I was still confident the team would pull through. In the first 45 minutes Argentina dominated the field, they saw most of the ball and had higher possession than Poland.

The only thing that was lacking was a goal which Messi, Di Maria, and Acuna tried getting but failed to because of the brilliant goalkeeper of Poland goalkeeper. Argentina won a penalty also in the first half and Messi was the one who took it before the referee blew his whistle I just felt Messi was going to lose that penalty, and he did but still, the Argentinean fans were shouting his name no one made a fuss about the penalty loss.

And it did not stop the Argentina team from coming back into the second half to win the match and scored one minute later after the sound of the referee's whistle to signal the beginning of the second half. Nahuel Molina from Argentina played a low cross to his teammate in the box, Mac Allister wasted no time and played the coming ball into the side net of the goalposts and scored Argentina's first goal in the match.

Argentina still dominated the second half with Possession and chances created, and in the 67th minute, they scored their second goal, Enzo Fernandez with a beautiful through ball to Alvarez as the Manchester City youngster curled the ball into the goalposts and scored his first world cup goal.

Even though Messi missed a penalty he still had a dissent game and contributed to his team, he was the only one with the highest defense breakthrough, chances created, most dribbles completed, and shots on target. He was voted man of the match but refused the award and asked it should be given to Mac Allister who scored the first goal for Argentina.

Fun Fact: Messi has never been eliminated in any group-stage tournament for both club and country in his entire career.

Argentina and Poland are through to the next round and how Poland qualified was shocking, they qualified because they had fewer cards given in all their three group stages matches, while Mexico who beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 lost their place in the knockout stage for receiving more cards than Poland.

Argentina will face Australia in the round of sixteen and Poland will face France👀 in the round of sixteen. So guys I will stop here for now, happy for Argentina and I can say now nothing is stopping them from winning the world cup. Thanks once again for stopping by.

Poland have been disappointing thus far and kind of disappointing how they made Argentina look better than they really are. I am happy you think Argentina have got the team to make it the whole way as they still look very weak.

Poland are not even that good, I believe Argentina are strong and from the match, I saw they are learning to play independent and not always relying on Messi.

Before watching the game I was confident Poland could surprise us with a classic. But as soon as the game began man I lost all hope. Argentina deserved to win and they did.

I read somewhere in twitter Messi wasn’t voted the man of the match and the news about him being voted was completely false.

Poland aren’t a good team at all. Saudi outplayed them but couldn’t take their chances something Argentina would know very well after failing to take theirs against Saudi although they did score 3 offside goals.😅

Argentina worked hard and that was clearly rewarded by the number times they won possession back immediately after losing it.

I must be honest that I haven’t been blown away by Argentina yet after being labelled favorites for the trophy but then I still think they’ll go far.

check on Fifa's official page on Twitter they said it was true and he refused to collect the award.

Argentina are now playing like champions, they have what it takes to win the title we just have to wait and see.

Oh okay will look at that. There’s a lot of news on twitter that sometimes it’s very hard to believe which is actually true.

For sure Argentina have what it takes to emerge as winners. They’re still one of the favorites.

Gotta say Mac Allister is the man for this match. Messi was clearly underperforming and I'm glad his team stepped up this time. Like De Paul said, if Messi stumbles the team is there to compensate.
