Barcelona Back To Winning Ways
Last night on Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona hosted Villarreal in match day 10 of the Laliga Santander, it was a match Barcelona needed to win after a horrible week. The starting lineups had some changes, Busquets, Dembele, and Raphinha who were regular starters were not in the starting lineup against Villarreal as they should be, Busquets is a wonderful player but in the past three matches he has been off form, and Dembele and Raphinha have not been productive as well, some people think both of them should not be starting together in the same match, but should both be switched in the left wing.
Ansu Fati the boy wonder, Ferran Torres, and the main man of the night Frankie De Jong were on the starting list. Barcelona ended things quickly in the first half against Villarreal, Lewandoski opened the scoreline in the 31st minute. Jordi Alba played a pass to Lewandoski, the Polish striker made a sharp turn which cut two of Villarreal's defenders and then fired a shot into the bottom corner of the goal post.
Lewandoski wasn't done with the yellow submarine who knocked his former club out of the Champions League last season as he scored another in the space of five minutes. Gavi played out a pass to Lewandoski, and R9 took a long-range shot outside the box eighteen, the Villarreal goalkeeper was unable to reach the ball as it went past him into the goalposts.
Barcelona was not done yet as they found the net three minutes later, Frankie De Jong lead the attack from the midfield and made a pass to Gavi who made a pass to Ferran Torres, Ferran dribbled his way past two defenders and played a pass to a teammate in the box, Ansu Fati received the ball and made a tap in but the ball hit the crossbar, Ansu was quick to respond to the open ball and played with his back heel into the goal post and gave Barcelona their third goal of the night.
The second half did not see any goals scored, although there were chances where Barcelona should have scored but missed, the match ended and Barcelona secured all three points. Real Madrid is still ahead of Barcelona with three points in the Laliga Santander table. The team performance was top-notch last night, Ansu Fati was taking long-range shots, while the rest of the squad (except Lewandoski) didn't have the balls to do so.
Frankie De Jong for me was the best player in the match, he played the Busquets role so well, making runs that opened Villarreal's defense and trapping back to make interceptions, then controlled the midfield with Gavi and Pedri who also gave an outstanding performance. I hope Xavi took notes last night and sees how De Jong is very important in the midfield.
It was indeed a good performance from Barcelona, and I hope it stays that way. So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by.
De Jong's brilliance made Pusictus's presence as a starter embarrassing...even Rafinha and Dembele had their participation in doubt after Torres and Fati appeared well in the first half....
Now Xavi is back to zero in relation to his choices.... He must choose carefully and according to preference and merit
