Barcelona Beat Rivals Real Madrid 3-1 To Be Crowned Spanish Super Cup Champions
What a night it was in Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup final between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid FC. The rivalry between both clubs has been a big part of football history and they have never failed to give an interesting and entertaining matches when they both meet on the field.
Last night was not the first time both teams have faced each other in all competitions, their first meeting was in a friendly match in the US which Barcelone won by one goal, Raphinha scored the only goal in the match and both teams even had a little fight in the match, although it was a friendly match both teams did not see if that way as both teams wanted to win the match.
The second time both teams met was the Laliga Santander league match which Real Madrid won 3-1 at home. Ballon d'Or winner Benzema, Valverde and Rodrygo all scored the three goals for Madrid while Ferran Torres scored the only goal for Barcelona. The loss to Madrid was the only game Barcelona has lost in Laliga out of sixteen matches played in the league, Barcelona currently has the best defense in Europe as they have only conceded six goals in all league matches this season.
Back to the Super Cup, Barcelona lost three meetings when they faced Madrid in the Supercup but last night was not the case as the Catalan side brought their A-game to the field and was ready to battle for the trophy.
When I saw the starting lineups I was impressed with the backline selection but the midfield and front made me have a little bit of doubt. Lewandoski scored his first EL Clasico goal and gave an assist in the match, it's funny how Madrid supporters compare him with Benzema because clearly, Lewandoski is clear.
Barcelona supporters have to apologize to Sergio Busquets because the man gave a beautiful performance last night on the field, he read, controlled the game, and showed why he is a top midfielder and a key player for Barcelona.
Barcelona has now won their first trophy in the last two years, this is the first without Messi and the first for Xavi as a manager for FC Barcelona, if you don't still believe in Xavi's project then you are still in the dark because honestly, he has been amazing in managing the team.
