Dembele Contract Issue with FC Barcelona

Hello sports fans, so there has been a trending issue between Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele about the renewal of his contract. Barcelona has stated that they have approached Dembele's agent six months ago concerning his contract renewal but his agent has turned down the proposal for the club.

It's no news that Barcelona are having money issues and are trying to cut player wages with the player's consent and the players have agreed to the proposal. But in the case of Dembele, his agent does not agree with this proposal and is not ready to reduce their client wage.

Barcelona is faced with losing Dembele for free in this summer transfer window, Dembele was signed to the club from Dortmund for £135 million in 2017. Due to the transfer saga between the club and Dembele agent, he has been left out of the Copa del Rey squad list, it seems he won't be playing for now.

Dembele's agent has claimed that the club has tried to blackmail the player saying Dembele won't play for five months if he doesn't sign the contract. If this is true, then I don't support the idea of Barcelona going this far just to get him to sign a contract.

According to a pre-match interview with Xavi, this is what he had to say on Dembele's contract issue: “The message is clear. Ousmane Dembélé has to sign a new contract or we find a way to sell him in January. no other way”.

“I also wonder about an agent is talking the way he is and Dembélé, on the other hand, telling me he wants to stay. I can’t understand”.

So it's clear that Dembele wants to stay, from what I have seen and read, I think is the agent that is not letting this contract be held. Since the player is willing to play, what's stopping the signing of the contract, I suspect that is more to the issue.

Dembele has also released a statement about his contract issue: “For four years people have spoken for me, shamefully lied with a single purpose, the intention of harming me. I have been following my line of never answering for four years. Has it been a mistake? Surely. It’s over”.
