Luis Suarez Vs Karim Benzema

Source

There is this debate on Twitter that I find fascinating and today I will like to share my thoughts on it. Luis Suarez Vs Benzema has for some time now flooded the internet with two different fanbases arguing about who is the better striker, in my own opinion I will choose Luis Suarez not just because he is a former Barca player but because of the quality he brings on the pitch.

Benzema is a great player, winning the Ballon d'Or last season was a huge success for the Frenchman who was under the shadow of Ronaldo for many seasons in La Liga. Last season for Benzema was his best season, leading his team to be crowned La Liga champions, Uefa Champions League winners, and Fifa Club World Cup winners.

Benzema was also the highest goalscorer last season in La Liga and UCL but here is the twist, Benzema was the highest goalscorer in La Liga for one reason there was no competition. Messi, Ronaldo, and Luis Suarez battled for that position during their time in La Liga, Benzema was sidelined until the 18/19 season after Ronaldo departed from Real Madrid and still Benzema did not reach that first spot because Messi continued to dominate in every season till he left for PSG in 2021.

This season proves my statement because Benzema is not one of the top three highest goal scorers in La Liga this season, and that's because of Lewandoski's presence in the league. Luis Suarez was special during his time in La Liga, his goal-scoring ability was top notch and he competed with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo for the Golden boot which he won in 2014.

Luis Suarez was even among the top three finalists for the Ballon door in an era where Messi and Ronaldo both dominated. I am 100 percent sure Luis Suarez would have won a Ballon d'Or if Messi and Ronaldo were not in the picture.

Benzema joined Real Madrid in 2009 and when I checked his El Clasico stats he has scored 12 goals alone in all his appearances against Barcelona, while Luis Suarez joined Barcelona in 2014 and has scored 11 goals in all his appearances against Real Madrid, so it save to say if Suarez had joined Barca earlier he would have scored more goals in El Clasico.

There is no doubt Luis Suarez is better but the only thing keeping Benzema ahead is his Ballon d'Or award. So guys this is where I stop but I would like to get your opinion on who is the better player between Luis Suarez and Benzema. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Hard to compare as it is also the players around you. When Suarez had Messi it would have afforded him more space due to the players marking Messi. Always difficult and why comparing is never a fair view. Almost as pathetic as those comparing Messi and Ronaldo as they are totally different in their playing styles.

Let's not forget Luis Suarez played in the EPL when he was in Liverpool, and he was still playing fantastic football, he was literally their star man before he moved to Barcelona.

Hi bro, been a while. You didn't look out for me?🙂

I'll take Benzema any day. An all-round player.

For several years he practically sacrificed his identity as a scorer to feed Ronaldo, with no qualms whatsoever. He would even tell you today, that he was okay doing that for several years.

Ronaldo left and upon leaving people were already mocking Madrid that they can't replace his goals or at least score as regularly as they did with him there; Benzema was nothing for them to reckon with, they knew he was just the water-carrier for Ronaldo.

Suddenly Benzema metamorphosised, actually it was him returning back to the deadly striker that was bought from France. I tell ya, guys didn't believe at first, they said this new found goal scoring feat of Benzema will dry up after some 10 matches. Alas till today, the new Benzema(goal scoring Benzema) is still scoring regularly, like a machine, plus he still drifts here and there.

Character-wise I'll take Benzema. I don't want wahala, that South American wayo things on the pitch, I like the cool headed guy, doing his work with the ball– Benzema. I like his elegance on the ball too. I love his attitude to work. People don't know that Cristiano couldn't keep up with Benzema's work ethic. We think Cristiano was the fittest, because Benzema doesn't have time to display his thighs and chest and all that, that Cristiano does.

So for me ,I look at everything not just how many goals two different kind of strikers(as @cryptoandcoffee states) scores. It's just my style. I go with Benzy over Suarez, if we must compare.

Cheers man

Chairman I greet oooo, no mind me here.

I disagree, if he was that good then he would have competed with Ronaldo and despite Ronaldo leaving Madrid he was not still able to give Messi a tough competition. Look at Bale for example, the guy was balling when Ronaldo was still in Madrid, Bale would have gone far if he was given enough playing time under Zidane.

Disagree how? You are mentioning Ronaldo, Messi, then Benzema. Don't you know the standing of the first two in world football? Even Bale, who came to to Spain as the best EPL player,a player very close to the Ronaldo level.

Secondly, in the 2017/2018 season in the La Liga,Messi was the highest goal scorer,Ronaldo second Suarez 3rd(was second to Messi, the season before). Benzema wasn't even 4th or 5th or 6th,infact he wasn't in the top 10. Greizmann made it to the top 10, even a Bale who wasn't used regularly by Zidane in that season, made the top 10.

Follow me o. The very next season with Ronaldo gone,Messi was top again. Who was 2nd? None of the rest, including Suarez, IT WAS BENZEMA. The next season, still Benzema was second to Messi, even the next Benzema. Suarez was still in the Spanish league all these years o. Benzema did it with Ronaldo, Suarez didn't without Messi. Today Suarez is semi-retired playing back at South America. Even in Atletico, he wasn't a sure starter for a long time.

It's not like Suarez is 5 yrs older than Benzema, they are about same age– 35,36.

Like I said in my previous note, I consider everything, yes including longevity(not just your form in one French league or EPL), attitude to fitness and all. I stick with my preference for selfless star boy of Madrid for some 5 years now, Benzema. If you still disagree, bobs go to court.😁

Much love brother, good to connect again.👍

As much as I would've love to hate Suarez for his petty characteristics like biting, stopping the ball on the line, racially abusing Patrice Evra, and, most important of all, playing for Liverpool, I will definitely pick him ahead of Benzema all day long. I love Benzema a lot. But, as far as I'm concerned, the Frenchman never got to the level of Suarez as a striker.

Exactly, I believe it was just a one-wonder season for Benzema, Suarez was consistent every season and had to compete with Ronaldo and Messi for the golden boot, why Benzema was still in the shadow of Ronaldo.

I think there is an important difference between Benzema and Suarez, which is that Suarez can be relied upon as a main striker in the team who can score more goals with some tactical roles on the field. As for Benzema, he is the player who scores fewer goals, but plays excellent tactical roles, while the main scorer in the team is another player, as was the case with Ronaldo.
