Manchester City With An Impressive Comeback To Beat Tottenham 4-2 In The EPL

Source

Last night in the English Premier League Manchester City played at home against Tottenham Hotspurs, Manchester City has lost two of their last matches, one in the EFL cup against Southampton and a devastating loss away from home against Manchester United who came behind from a one-goal lead and scored two goals to win the match. Manchester City's recent form has brought a lot of questions on whether their new system of play with Haaland is destroying the team's performance and some doubts City will defend their title against Arsenal.

Haaland should not be blamed for anything instead the team and especially the defense should be blamed. Haaland has proven his worth and has helped the team many times when he gets the little chance in front of goal, the guy just reached 22 EPL goals last night against Spurs in his first season at the club which is crazy. Haaland's system is simple, create a chance for him and he will get you a goal but Manchester City has not been creating those chances for Haaland.

Back to last night's match between Manchester City and Spurs, Tottenham throw the first blow in the 44th minute of the first half, Ederson made a mistake in executing his pass and Rodri failed to clear the danger which lead Kulusevski to capitalize on the loose ball and played a shot into the goalpost and gave Tottenham their first goal of the match.

Tottenham doubled their lead in 45+2 minutes of the first half. Harry Kane led a counter-attack down City's defense and took a shot but Ederson(Manchester City goalkeeper) blocked the ball, the danger was not over as Emerson Royal headed the loose ball into the goalpost and doubled Tottenham's goal lead. At that point, I began to wonder whether I was wrong about City because I have defended them anytime someone dropped a post about Arsenal winning the league. I began to have doubts but my doubts were cleared in the second half of the match.

Manchester City began their comeback in the second half, and in the 51st minute, City scored their first goal of the match, Gundogan's shot was blocked by Loris but Alvarez reacted to the loose ball quickly and played the ball into the goalpost. Manchester City leveled the scoreline two minutes later after Alvarez's goal, Riyad Mahrez created the opportunity for the first goal lead another attack and crossed the ball into the box for Haaland who wasted no time and headed the ball into the goalpost and just like that in the space of two minutes Tottenham two-goal lead was over.

Manchester City got their first lead of the match in the 63rd minute, Rodri from City played a cross to Riyad Mahrez who dribbled past Ivan Perisic made a run down Tottenham's defense, and played a shot into the goalpost, the Etihad Stadium went wide after Mahrez goal, supporters shouting and jumping for joy, it was perfect.

Manchester City where not done yet as they scored another goal in the 90th minute, Ederson played a long ball for his goalpost to Tottenham's half, but Lenglet made a bad execution with the ball as it bounce off his leg and went straight to Mahrez, the City winger run down the defense and played the ball into the goalpost as Loris had no chance at all in stopping the ball.

The match ended and Manchester City won 4-2, it was a brilliant second half for Manchester City and that is what City do, they never back down from a fight and I am now more confident they are going to defend their title at all costs. Mahrez deserves a lot of credit for a brilliant performance in the second half, and I am also disappointed in Tottenham how could they let City make such a comeback, I wonder how @blanchy is feeling now, he had some much faith in Tottenham but they are not giving good result.

So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.

Would you believe it that I was very happy with our first half display as like Conte said, we played better than we did last year. The second half was the problem. Mistakes by Loris and a tired Peresic. But we gave it a go and thats what matters which is more than can be said against other teams. 😀

You are talking about the best team in the world so I'm not that upset.

Glad you taking is ok, but seriously Spurs needs to get a new goalkeeper quickly and send Loris packing.

The whole defensive zone on the left of Tottenham is very bad; against Arsenal it looked bad and yesterday in that second half against ManCity it was seen again and I must add the bad performance of Lloris, another goal where he fails; that third goal scored by Mahrez is his fault and well, that failure of Lenglet closed everything.

I was expecting so changes in Spur's defense with how they were active last summer in the transfer window but it seems they are still the same. Loris should not be starting for Spurs with is recent performance even for France too, I hope Spurs get a goalkeeper in the transfer market this January before the deadline. Thanks for stopping by mate.
