Matchday 22 Highlights of The English Premier League

Source

Matchday 22 of the Premier League concluded last night, so today I will be reviewing the matches that took place this weekend in the EPL. Chelsea kicked off matchday 22 with a goalless draw at home against Fulham, like I said in my previous post the Blues needs some time before they can give a good result, new players just came into a system they have not played before and are likely to have trouble fitting in the new system and if Potter is as good as they claimed then he should be able to get the team running in no time.

Last season second runner-up in the EPL Liverpool lost 3-0 away from home to Wolverhampton, the reds just keep getting worse week in and week out in the competition and are now in the 10th place of the EPL table with 29 points. I have doubts if the reds would get European football next season if they keep losing more matches as the season goes on. Matip scored an early own goal in the 5th minute of the first half which set Wolves up, Dawson increased the lead to two goals in the 12th minute of the first half and Ruben Neves made it three in the 71st minute of the second half.

Manchester United took all three points as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at home, Burno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford were on the scoresheet for Manchester United while Schlupp was on the scoresheet for Crystal Palace. The match was intense and even a fight broke out which led to Casemiro getting sent off the match with a red card for putting his hands around the opposite team player's neck. Casemiro did not leave his bad habit in Spain, bro thinks the EPL referees are like the La Liga referee and doesn't know the EPL referees give red cards for fun, Casemiro will probably miss three league games for Manchester United.

Brighton beat Bournemouth 1-0 at home Mitoma scored a late goal in the 87th minute of the second half. Brighton has been doing pretty well this season, they are in the sixth place of the table with 34 points, and are six points away from Newcastle and five points away from Tottenham, while Bournemouth is 19th on the table with 17 points. Brighton is likely going to get European football next season if they keep up winning more matches, looking forward to seeing how they finish on the table on the last day of the season.

Brentford had an amazing game at home as they beat Southampton 3-0. Mee, Mbeumo, and Jensen each got a goal in the match, was a bit surprised Ivan Toney did in get a goal when his side played well yesterday, Brentford is seventh on the table with 34 points and is one point away from Brighton, while Southampton is 20th on the table with 15 points and might probably get relegated at the end of the season.

Leicester City seems to have gotten their heads back in the game as they had a massive win against Aston Villa last night. Leicester City beat Aston Villa 4-2 away from home, Maddison, Theanacho, Tele, and Paret all scored a goal each for Leicester City, while Watkins was the only Villa player to score a goal and the second goal for Villa was an own goal scored by Souttar. Leicester City has improved from being a team who were in the relegation zone to be in 14th place on the league table, it's a great improvement and I look forward to seeing how far they will go to stay in the league this season.

One of my recent favorite teams in the EPL Newcastle United played a 1-1 draw at home against West Ham United. Newcastle is beginning to slack off which is not good, I was expecting a win in this game to extend their points and keep pushing to finish in the top four this season to secure a Champions League place next season and it seems that dream is about to collapse because Tottenham is just one point away from them and could surpass Newcastle if they fail to win their next match. Newcastle needs to buckle up because I still very much want them to play in the UCL next season.

Nottingham Forest took all three points at home as they beat Leeds United 1-0, the match was pretty tense and Leeds came again and again to level the scoreline but Keylor Navas who is on loan from PSG and is currently playing for Forest was the wall of Nottingham goal line as he made countless saves to preserve the lead for his new club. Nottingham Forest is doing their best to stay in the EPL and is on the verge of doing so as they are 13th on the table with 24 points, let's see how they end the season in June.

The Headline and the final match of matchday 22 was between Tottenham and Manchester City, I am disappointed in City and it just seems they are not ready to defend their title this season, I was expecting them to the advantage of Arsenal's loss and close the gap to two points but they failed to make it happen last night. It was a special night for Tottenham and Harry Kane, Kane scored the only goal which gave Tottenham the victory over City, Harry Kane's goal also marked his 200th goal as a Tottenham player making him the top goal scorer for Tottenham. It's just a shame Kane has not won the EPL title which he deserves and with his speech last night, I don't think he will be leaving Tottenham soon.

Big congrats to Harry Kane and wish him the best as he continues his journey. So guys that's all the weekend highlights for the EPL, thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead.

Man, Liverpool have suddenly made themself a banter club after putting on a very fabulous performance in the last couple of seasons. This season has been very weird for Liverpool and Liverpool fans do not know what to do about it. Haha.

As for Manchester City, those guys are in hot soup. They had all the opportunity to push themselves closer to Arsenal, but they managed to bottle it.

Congratulations to Arsenal for remaining at the top with a very nice point despite losing a game in this game week.

Exactly, I am very disappointed in them, how could they let that Golden opportunity slip from their hands, that would have put Arsenal under a lot of pressure and before you know it they will make another mistake, well the season is not over and anything can happen. Thanks for stopping by mate.

Hi! The link to the source of your images doesn't make the author attribution correctly. Maybe you could correct it so that it can be checked for free use and you would get more support. Curators are very careful about that aspect. 😊
Keep up the good work!

What do you thing is going to happen with the M. City issue? I mean, Premier Leagues's has just started an open investigation against the City's Fair Play use..

Manchester City's issues are complicated and are nothing like I have ever seen in football, Based on what the EPL is charging them it will take a miracle for them to come out of the case with their head high because this issue has been pending since 2019 and the EPL authorities have refused to let it slide. According to Manchester City's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, he believes Manchester City is ready for the case and has all the necessary documents to prove its innocence in the court, we just have to wait and see how it ends.

You're right... Thing is, is Man City the only team in the EPL doing this kind of Fair Play scam? I don't think so at all. And let's no talking about the whole UEFA'S top 5 league teams. I understand why Man City has to be investigated but let's be real about, they're not the only one (guilty as charged... If you know what I mean).
