Matchday 24 Highlights Of The English Premier League

Source

Matchday 24 of the English Premier League kicked off on Saturday and today I will be taking a look at what happened over the weekend in the EPL. The Gunners kickstarted the weekend with an amazing win away from home on Saturday afternoon, Arsenal beat Aston Villa 4-2 to move back to the top of the table in the EPL.

Saka, Zinchenko, and Martinelli were on the scoresheet for Arsenal while Ollie Watkins and Coutinho scored the two goals for Aston Villa, Villa's goalkeeper and world cup champion Emiliano Martinez conceded an own goal after Jorginho's shot deflected off the crossbar, bounced off his head and went into the goalpost. With City draw on Saturday, the Gunners have moved back to the top of the table and are ahead by two points.

Brentford hosted Crystal Palace at home, both teams played a 1-1 draw and took a point from the match. Eze scored the first goal of the match in the 69th minute of the second half and was assisted by Micheal Ollse just when Crystal Palace taught they would win the match, Vitaly Janelt the substitute for Brentford scored a late equalizer in the 90+6 minute of extra time. Brentford remains in the 9th place on the table and Crystal Palace remains in the 12th place on the table.

Brighton lost at home to Fulham on Saturday, Manor Solomon who came into the game in the 82nd minute scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute, that is what we call a super substitution. Fulham's win against Brighton took the club to the 6th place in the table and moved Brighton to the 7th place on the table, who knows both teams might play in the European competition next season.

Chelsea finds themselves in a tough spot again as they lost at home to Southampton. Ward-Prowse's stunning free kick in the first half gave his side three points in the match. Chelsea are still struggling and it should be expected because the squad is still trying to balance itself with all the new players that came in the last transfer window. Potter needs time and I am sure he will deliver soon, so Chelsea fans need to be patient and trust the project.

Everton got their second win on Saturday under their new manager Sean Dyche. Seamus Coleman scored the only goal for his side as Everton took all three months from Leeds United. Everton are out of the relegation zone and are in 16th place on the table, while Leeds are in the relegation zone with 19 points in 18th place.

Manchester City was held back by Nottingham Forest as they played a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Jack Grealish scored the only goal for City and Chris Wood who was subbed in the 79th minute scored the equalizer for Nottingham Forest. It's a setback from City and I still have faith they will defend their title, they have done it before and would do it again.

Wolverhampton lost at home to Bournemouth, Marcus Tavernier scored the only goal of the match in the 49th minute of the second half. Bournemouth's victory took the club away from the relegation zone but they are still not safe and will have to do more if they want to remain in the EPL next season. Wolverhampton's loss put them on a vulnerable side, if they lose their next match they are likely going to drop into the relegation zone.

The last match of the Saturday fixture was between Newcastle United and Liverpool. Liverpool beat Newcastle United 2- 0 away from home with Gakpo and Nunez both scoring a goal in the match. I am disappointed in Newcastle's performance this past week and I think they have lost that winning mentality.

Newcastle loss on Saturday cost them their place in the top four and they are now sitting in the fifth place of the table, Newcastle needs to get their head straight and start winning if they want to secure a champions league spot next season, I will still be keeping an eye on them and will be looking forward to seeing how they end the season.

Manchester United kicked off the Sunday fixture with a win, United beat Leicester City 3-0 at home and Marcus Rashford scored but this time he got himself a brace, Sancho was also on the scoresheet. It's up to Barcelona to humble United at their home stadium on Thursday night 😌.

Tottenham beat West Ham United 2-0 at home to move into the top four of the EPL table. Emerson and Son were on the scoresheet for Tottenham, I am sure @blanchy will be having a blast since his team are now in the top four, but Spurs' inconsistency at times is worrying and they might bottle that position but let's see how it goes for them this season.

So guys that's all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great week.

There are only one bottle job around here and they are leading the Premiership. Not for long though.
