Matchday 27 Highlights Of The English Premier League

Source

The weekend ended on a positive note for some clubs, and some clubs had a setback as they failed to take all three points in their respective matches. Matchday 27 started with Bournemouth vs Liverpool, the reds seemed to have got their heads back in the game after an amazing victory over Manchester United last weekend, but Liverpool's inconsistency cut up to them this weekend as they lost to Bournemouth 1-0 away from home, Philip Billing scored the only goal of the match and was assisted by Dango Ouattara.

Liverpool remains 6th on the EPL table, they will be hoping to finish in the top four which is going to be tough because we have Tottenham, Manchester United, and Newcastle United also fighting to finish in the top four, it will be interesting to see how these four teams will finish on the table in June. Everton beat Brentford 1-0 at home on Saturday afternoon, Dwight McNeil scored in the early first minute of the first half which was the only goal scored in the match.

Everton sits in 15th place on the EPL table, they might just escape from the relegation zone. Brentford is still in the 9th place of the table and by the looks of things they might not get European football next season. Leeds United played a 2-2 draw against Brighton at home, it was a tough match and Brighton was looking for the win as they push for European football next season. Leeds United are not looking pretty good as they sit in the 19th place on the table, they need to put in more effort if they want to remain in the EPL next season.

The Blues had a beautiful performance away from home as they beat Leicester City 3-1 with Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic made the scoresheet for Chelsea, while Paston Daka registered the only goal for Leicester City. The Blues did a great job but it's not over yet, I don't think they will make the top four but they can try to get European football even if it's the Europa Conference league because that is far I think they can get this season.

Tottenham got an impressive win this weekend after a horrible last weekend against Wolves, Spurs beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at home with Harry Kane registering a brace and Son Heung-min registering a goal, while Joe Worrall scored the only goal for Nottingham Forest. Tottenham maintains their spot on the table and leads Newcastle United with four points but they are not safe as Newcastle United has two matches in hand to play and if they win their two matches they will return to the top four.

Manchester City beat Crystal Palace 1-0 away from home to put pressure on Arsenal as they chase the Gunners to defend their title. Haaland's late goal put City two points close to Arsenal on Saturday but it did not last long as the Gunners won their game on Sunday, I still believe City would defend their title even though it seems Arsenal is running away, Liverpool can testify how whenever they are close to the title Manchester City will come from behind and overtake them to win the title, so trust I City to keep the pressure on till the end of the season.

On Sunday the Gunners continued matchday 27 as they mashed Fulham three goals away from home. Gabriel Magalhaes, Martinelli, and Martin Odegaard all registered a goal each in the match, Leonardo Trossard deserves credit for delivering a hat trick of assists in the match. Arsenal is five points clear of Manchester City in the league table, Arsenal is having a great run but it is not over yet because Manchester City won't go down and will chase the Gunners till the end of the season.

Manchester United played a goalless draw at home against Southampton, it was not a positive result for the red devils and they also lost Casemiro who has been outstanding in the midfield for United. Casemiro received a straight red card and will be banned from four domestic league matches in the coming weeks, United will have to find a way to win without him because they have a better win ratio when Casemiro is on the pitch, I look forward to seeing how Ten Hag manage Casemiro absence in the coming weeks.

West Ham United played a 1-1 draw at home against Aston Villa, Benrahma scored the only goal for West Ham United, and Watkins scored the only goal for Aston Villa. It was not a good result the West Ham United fans wanted as they booed David Moyes who has been under pressure to deliver good results, the fans want him out but it all depends on the board, and if they decide to keep him the fans just have to accept their decision.

The last match of matchday 27 was between Newcastle United vs Wolves, Newcastle beat Wolves 2-1 at home to move back to fifth place in the table. Almiron's late goal secured Newcastle's victory in the second half of the match, Newcastle has been off lately and I am glad they got the win yesterday but still, they have a lot of work to do if they want to finish in the top four this season.

So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead.
