Monaco Vs PSG ( Match Recap )

Source

Yesterday afternoon PSG faced one of their biggest rivals in Ligue 1, the defending champions played away from home against AS Monaco on matchday 23 of the Ligue 1 campaign season. The starting lineups for PSG had a lot of changes, I could not recognize some of the players because I had not seen them play before, and was wondering what the PSG manager was trying to accomplish with the new setting because believe if you are going to face a strong opponent you should have experience and inform player on the pitch.

PSG was missing two of its crucial attacking players on the squad, Messi and Mbappe were dropped out of the team because of the injury they picked up and Neymar was the only available player in PSG's main front three. The injury picked up by Messi and Mbappe came at the wrong time as their first league in the round of sixteen against Bayern Munich in the champions league is coming up this Tuesday and with their performance lately, they have a 20 percent chance of winning the match without both players.

Back to the match between PSG and Monaco, all the goals scored in the match were scored in the first 45 minutes of the first half. Monaco opened the scoreline in the early 4th minute of the match, Wissam Ben Yedder from Monaco's shot was blocked by Danilo Pereira, the ball was deflected back to Ben Yedder and the Monaco star played it to his teammate in the box, Aleksandr Golovin received the ball and played a shot into the goalpost given Monaco the first lead of the match.

Monaco scored their second goal in the 18th minute, Bitshiabu a new face in PSG's defense made a bad decision in clearing the ball and the ball was quickly taken off him by Krepin Diatta from Monaco, Diatta wasted no time and played a low cross into the box finding Wissam Ben Yedder who fired the ball into the goalpost and extended his team led to two goals. PSG scored their first and only goal of the match in the 39th minute, Juan Bernat made a low cross into Monaco's box and found Warren Zaire Emery as he made a tap-in into the goalpost.

Monaco scored the last goal of the match in 45+2 minutes. Ellesse Ben Seghir lead a counter-attack for Monaco and played a nice through ball which opened PSG's defense, the ball got to Ben Yedder and he wasted no time playing the ball past PSG's goalkeeper and scored his second goal of the match which concluded the first half. PSG's manager made some changes at the beginning of the second half but nothing could be done to level up the scoreline.

The match ended and Monaco took all three points, PSG remained on the top of the table with 54 points, while Monaco moved to third place with 47 points. PSG are going to have to scramble a win on Tuesday night against Bayern Munich if they want to go far in the UCL this season, am not sure if both Messi and Mbappe will be ready for the second leg but if they are it will be a relief for the squad and will probably make a huge impact for the team.

So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.
