Hello sports fans, how are you all enjoying the weekend? It's been packed with different sports activities, especially football. But today I will be looking into the AFCON competition which has been impressive this past week.

Group D which consists of Nigeria, Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan has captured my attention. My country Nigeria which I'm supporting is in the group and also Liverpool starman Mohammed Salah is in the group.

Nigeria's first match in the group was against Egypt. I was surprised the super eagles had the edge over the Princes of Pharaoh as they won 1-0 with Kelechi Iheancho scoring the only goal of the match. I was impressed by the stats. Nigeria dominated the match, had more possession, more shots on target and more chances created.

Also last night the super eagles made their way to the round of 16 of the AFCON, after beating Sudan 3-1, a brilliant performance from Moses Simon as he scored a goal and gave an assist. It's nice to see the boys playing well in the competition and giving their best. I have faith they will keep this form up and pressure the title.

The last time Nigeria won the title was in 2013 a 1-0 victory against Burkina Faso in the finals, since then the Eagles have failed to bring the title back home.

Elsewhere Cameroon and Morocco have also made it into the round of 16, both teams winning their two consecutive matches to seal their spot in the Round of 16. Also, it seems there might still be hope for Egypt as Mohamed Salah scored his first and only goal against Guinea-Bissau.

Egypt now is second on the group d table leading with just two points against Sudan and Guinea-Bissau, there is still a slight chance one of these countries would make it into the round of 16 let's see how it goes.

So, guys that will be all for now, feel free to give your thoughts on the comment section, there are still more matches to be played today, don't miss out on it.
