    Lets talk about the reason the Eagles are finding so much success this season.

Your average football fan might watch the Eagles offense and think " wow that looked easy", and its easy to understand why. They might actually run the simplest offense in the NFL. Often times utilizing a play calls like the run-pass option. But simple design doesn't mean simple execution, and you also need an athletic QB to even run this style of offense. The Qb also needs to be a lighting fast decision maker. Lets break it down.

First let us break down what a run-pass option play is. A run-pass option is eactly what it sounds like. Well, technically the Qb has 3 options on the play. It all comes down to how the defense reacts, at the snap of the ball the RB will create a mesh point with the QB, the Qbs eyes should be on the DE
and if the DE chases the the RB then the QB will keep the ball and run into the vacant space left by the DE. If the DE stays home to contain QB then the RB will get the ball at the meshpoint. This is pretty much how any zone read or option style offense works. The element of adding a pass as an extension to the option is a relatively new phenomenon and adds a new wrinkle, but it also creates more stress for Qb as there is more to read and react to now. Remember that mesh point? Well, there is a case if the DE stays home the Qb would keep the ball at the meshpoint. That's where the pass comes in. Im not here to say Jalen is the fastest QB in the NFL, but he might be the only Qb in the NFL that is unique enough to run this style of offense. He also doesn't have the best arm or nor is he the best at reading coverage. But his command of the game and understanding his own limitations have taken this Eagle's offense to new heights, and he is the engine that makes it work.
